50 currently after a midnight high of 54. Low of 43 so far.

If Spring Break misses the tail of this ridge then normal climo is all I ask We’ve had some real chilly stinkers the last few years.

NWS Climate Prediction Centre Outlook for the last week of March and first week of April

Looking like March may be well above normal and dry when all is said and done (especially after a week in the mid to upper 60s). A bit concerning going into wildfire season.

Even some GFS ensembles wanting to keep the warm and sunny party going...

You can see on the ECMWF AI model that it wants to rebuild a fairly strong N. Pacific ridge toward the end of the run - which would extend our dry and warm pattern into April.

Now across the state line. Grass is pretty green in Yreka area, at least compared to how it is in summer. Shasta is up in the clouds, though.

My wife is going down there in a couple weeks. Invited me to go, but planned the trip for the middle of the week, so I probably won't be going. Her uncle will eventually be leaving us his house down there.

Now in the Sacramento Canyon between Dunsmuir and Redding, pouring rain now. Some places here exceed 70” of annual rainfall yet still average highs above 95 in July/August. Really weird combination of high rainfall and hot summers that doesn’t really exist anywhere else in the Western US.

Yes they do. Deep ties in the Shasta City and Weed areas. Also several relatives up in Yreka. That's on her Dad's side. Her mom grew up near Susanville, closer to Ravendale if I recall, but I think all of that side of the family is now either in Reno or in the SF Bay area.
