I think so.  Just looked at the Wenatchee Matrix for the last 4 or 5 weeklies, and it does something similar, always the same day ahead.  Maybe just after day 15, where the regular EPS goes to day 15, maybe there is a resolution change right after that.

There was a sudden onset of snow at about that point in the future for KBLI a week or two ago, too.

It's called clown range for a reason.

I know Phil says we should not like to see Alaska get cold. BUT, it is nice to see someone have cold, and that cold PaulB posted about is centered in NW Canada.

Before I had internet (pre 1998) I would stalk the temps in Alaska from the newspaper, seemed like more often than not after they got vodka cold type temps we would see cold/snow down here about 2wks or so later...But what do I know, I was just a young man with only access to Harry/Andy Wappler, Steve Pool, Jeff Renner, the weather radio, and the Everett Herald.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

Do you look at the models now?

Another view of the snow on the ridge...

Interesting to be so close to the snow line. Last night on the way home there was no snow going through Silver Falls State Park until we got to the North Falls area. It is about 100' lower than our house, but topographically favored. There was about 1" of snow there. Then no snow the rest of the way home, even on our little road, but as soon as we got to our driveway there was snow on the ground again.

Prior to most of the old school grade Arctic blasts, there usually is a large dome of Arctic air encompassing much of interior AK and Yukon.
Most of the time surface pressure exceeds 1050-1060mb in Yukon with heights to 570s popping up over Anchorage, prior to getting the good stuff here.
Of course those are only short term (3-5 days in advance) prognosticators.

7-10 days out is a crapshoot and 10-14 days is bullscheiß

The very first home I owned was in a snow zone (in the Seattle suburb of Shoreline, near a hilltop). Ironically, it wasn’t even a goal of mine to live in one at the time. It just happened. Since then, things just haven’t come together that way, though I am now in a favored area for Fraser outflow winds. Addendum: not in a half-bad area for nighttime radiational cooling, either.

It's called clown range for a reason.

Not a bad thing.

Way better than in the past when someone would post that the models “took a dump” only to find out the snow maps showed 6-8” instead of 8-10” being the major model dump.
