I might stay awake for this.. The band extends way out into the ocean.. If it lifts north a bit I could be in for some good snow

Just went out and cleared a bunch of spots on the car and I'm fully expecting to pick up another inch or two.

Snow is picking up here and that batch North of Victoria looks like it means business.

Hearing lots of branches cracking.

Vancouver area has done really well with this event. About 4-6" for areas along the water and 8-12" at higher elevations. The Canadian model really nailed this event.

How has Bellingham done?

If you would take the time to read a few pages back you’d see updates and totals from some of your Bellingham residents. Most places in Bellingham got between 8-12 inches with some reports exceeding that out in the county.

It’s 30.6*F with sleet/freezing rain and wind beating the hell out of our north facing windows.

NWS is VERY dumb in Seattle in how they handle NW interior forecasts.... Especially ZONE. They completely under forecasted snow for Whatcom County most of the week, and now they extend the WSW until this afternoon with another 3-5” of snow. It’s 7:20AM and there’s freezing rain and sleet, NOT snow. 0” of new snow since they reissued the WSW, and that won’t change.

Interesting blurb from KOMO:

Seattle has had 16 consecutive days of rain through Sunday with No. 17 likely -- although as of 7 a.m., it had been raining for eight consecutive hours in the city but had yet to rain hard enough to measure the minimum 0.01 inches to count as an official rainy day. The record for consecutive days with rain is 33 set in 1953. If we get measurable rain on Tuesday, 18 days would move us into a 4 way tie for 10th-longest streak.

Time for some drier weather!      Better get going... we are home Wednesday.   :)

Is it really necessary to say the bolded section? So much attitude, wow.

I did see a few pages back, but it's the next morning and radar returns looked very good in Bellingham, so places where it was falling as snow should have picked up quite a bit since those posts a "few pages back."

I guess mother nature is keeping score of all those dry days we had for weeks at a time.

Yep... it has to balance out at some point.    Looking at the mountains now you would thinks its been an incredible winter... when in fact we made up for all that dry weather in just 10 days.

3 inches of new snow here since midnight. 30f and snowing steady. Total depth is probably 12-13" now. Since EC ended their snowfall warning yesterday evening it has snowed 5" here. They just re issued it for amounts up to 6" today. ......... A little late I would say.

Ya it is crazy. While you were gone, Snoqualmie pass closed a couple of times. This has been the best skiing all season. I expect March to be a block buster for skiing and boarding.

I told my wife when it was so nice in November when we originally planned to go that February will now end up being a good time to be gone.

Very frustrating weekend here in Victoria at sea level. It basically snowed all Saturday and Sunday with nothing more than a trace to show for it. I woke up this morning to finally see at least an inch. Elevation was key in this event around this area.

Sea level here in Vancouver BC all together so far 7 inches

This could end up being the best snow fall up north in over ten years. Awesome.

I'm not sure about that. December 2008 didn't have the discrepancy across the region. Even within the north, if you're close to sea level you don't have any snow at all. In '08 pretty much everyone in metro Vancouver had 12" fall

Yeah, kiss of death right there. Hard to believe they didn't see the PL/ZR transition occurring, soundings showed it being a pretty good possibility.

12z backed off a lot on the cold next weekend compared to the 00z. Let the roller coaster begin.

I will be near Long Beach next weekend helping the Washington Trails Association build a new board walk. Could be a decent setup for snowfall out that way if things trend colder again.

It just seems like the NWS have lost there touch. I think a lot of the same people still work there also. The discussions used to be very good and now they are lame.

We come from the land of the ice and snow.
