We certainly have an extremely low chance of getting anything meaningful before Christmas once this pattern gets its salad tossed. Maybe; maybe we see things reorganize in January.

December 15th area could be something, not worth looking at yet obv

Really hope that precip shield shown on the EURO brings a bit heavier snow north.

From what I can tell an inch would be about the minimum expectation for this area in the morning.

A compelling case could be made for late Dec/early Jan.  The repeating 30 day cycle seems to be happening this season...at least so far.  A lot of people swear by the LRC.

I can see this week being the last of our winter weather for the entire season. 1994 status.

That wouldn’t be a 1936-37 redux.

Three weeks of brutal model riding.  Repeating model solutions of bitter cold and monstrous snow storms and what do I get?  A half hour of very wet snow, a few days with highs near 40.  Goodnight all.

Maybe the TRUE winter storms are the friends we made along the way

It’s rough. We actually did okay up here in January 2020, but I was still pretty bitter about it. To me that event is the biggest disappointment of the past decade.

What is LRC?

The real answer is Long Range Cycle.  Some winters get into a routine of repeating patterns every 30 days or so.  Some years it doesn't emerge at all.

November will end up with an average temperature of 39.6F in my backyard with 5.95" of rain. The rain is just slightly above average, but what's remarkable is more than half of that nearly 6" fell in less than 24 hours on November 4th. The 39.6F is almost 5 degrees below average which will be the second coldest month relative to average that I have records for, behind only February 2019. I ended up with 15 subfreezing lows this month which will tie for 7th most of any month in the last 12 years. What a change from last November when I failed to record a single freeze.

It's kind of unfortunate that one of the coldest November's in the last 75 years failed to produce any snow here, but that's how the cookie crumbles some times. I guess now it's time to move onto the 12th month and see what it has in store.
