Tacoma McChord hit 17 this morning, not bad.

I'm a little dissapointed with my 18F this morning since it was 19 when I went to bed last night. Was hoping for 16!

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

Clouds cleared out today. Cooling down.

Sitting at 14 degrees. North wind is starting to pick up in some places, but calm where I am. Trees still holding snow. Pretty evening with the alpenglow reflecting on the trees.... just about dark now tho.

This might be one of those very rare situations where Tim gets relatively screwed.

Not likely.

Maybe initially... but the models show my area getting hit good through tomorrow for sure.   I think it will stay cold enough for snow here through Saturday morning and there is lots of precip through that period.

I am guessing I will beat the totals for all of the area except maybe the North Interior and Vancouver Island and the lower mainland.

Definitely some "buzz sawing" happening along the North edge of the precip shield as it approaches the Sound.

Not surprising given the dry air and East winds. It will probably still be a couple hours till things really get going around Seattle.

Everett Snowfall (510 feet elevation)

Snow since February 2019: 91"

2023-24: 6"

2022-23: 17.5"

2021-22: 17.75"

2020-21: 14.5”

2019-20: 10.5"

2018-19: 24.75"

Probably gonna lose out to Hood canal. Definitely gonna beat me I don't see a way I'll get more than 3" out of this based on the models. This valley is surprisingly really dry and affected by downsloping in winter.

I only meant tonight.

To give an idea of the kind of temperature drops we may be able to expect from evaporative cooling, OLM went from 37/17 before the snow started to 31/31 two hours later. McChord went from 36/17 to 33/30 in the last hour, so not huge temp drops, though definitely enough to give us snow.

It will be interesting to see what SEA (36/12 currently) does over the next few hours.

Almost every single place south of Seattle has done very well with switching over to snow at precip onset. KBFI sitting at 37/14, KSEA at 36/12. Should be snow right off the bat.

I figure Seattle area will end up hovering around 30.

The buzz saw is legit here in swamp land. Not a single snowflake and dry as a bone.

Always have January

Okay, so, when is it appropriate to start focusing on and wishcasting for the next event...assuming there is one coming?  Haha.

My ADHD is kicking in and I'm over the 3/4 inch snow we got in Downtown PDX.  Was really hoping for the 3-5 inches.  #feelingrobbed

Me too, this wasn't quite enough to get my snow fix. I need mooar.

Maybe my luck or bad radar detector

It will be fine later.  It's taking the moisture a while to overcome the dry air.

Interestingly the Euro shows it freezing or below tomorrow morning, but no new snow after 12z in spite of plenty of moisture.  Could end up freezing rain I suppose.  On the other hand snow through early tomorrow morning wouldn't shock me either.  The numbers aren't terrible if east winds continue.

Death To Warm Anomalies!

Winter 2023-24 stats

Total Snowfall = 1.0"

Lows 32 or below = 50

Highs 32 or below = 3

Lows 20 or below = 3

Highs 40 or below = 9
