I understand the deep-rooted skepticism when it comes to some of my posts, but I've been very careful not to lie or misrepresent anything since I admitted I lived in DC. It would be very stupid for me to start lying now, for no reason, all while I'm trying to gradually build back my credibility here.

Now that the sun is up... I can see the web cams still look gross. This is a really crappy situation given there is no clear end in sight. We picked a perfect week to be gone. I never like leaving during summer but this is an exception.

Smoke looks like it is increasing here this morning as the flow aloft turns stronger offshore. It does appear to be a more elevated smoke than yesterday, almost looks like it is clouding over. Reading reports that some of the Cariboo fires had some extreme activity over the past 12 hours, could be re-establishing our smoke source.

1977 is actually looking like a pretty decent analog for this event. The 90+ warmth even started on the same date (7/31).

 

13 of the next 18 days went on to be 91 or warmer, with 5 at 100 or warmer. This stretch has the potential to be pretty similar, sans the occasional dips into the 80s, perhaps.

 

After that, the pattern crashed and fall basically started after 8/17. Would be nice to follow that piece of it as well.
