Really, really lovely cumulonimbus action tonight! I just happened to have my drone in the car and got some solid shots of DT Seattle/Lake Washington/Mercer Island/Bellevue looking north from Skyway. Alas, the focal length of the lens doesn't do the vertical height justice and my WB was off rendering it into semi-gross HDR territory, but still... fun looking weather! It was quite windy- I was flying right at 390 ft and the drone was giving me all sorts of warnings about sustained winds/gusts.
A most incredible snow storm. At times the snowfall rates have been as heavy or slightly heavier than January 2017. Temp 27.5, Dewpoint: 27.1 with gusty east wind and very heavy snow continuing. I'm at 11 1/2" now! UNBELIEVABLE!!!! This pic does no justice at all.
NBM is quite an interesting product! Their weighting algorithm is moderately complex and dynamic, though does has some drawbacks as we saw yesterday. For those who don't know, NBM is an attempt by NOAA to create a super probabilistic forecast model that ingests output from all the models above and outputs forecast guidance for local offices that help them to gauge the relative odds of particular weather outcomes. The 'special sauce' is the post-processing, normalization and weighting that they d
Kind of the last thing on peoples minds, but we got 1.70” of rain. It’s really going to have to dry out, as farmers need to get a crop planted. The last 30 days of precipitation are setting records.
Damage to 3 sides of the house siding. Obviously new roof needed. All downspouts dented in. Wrapping around the house and poles is dented and peeling. Sounds like power poles were snapped north of town. Going to be a lot of repairs around here this summer.
The official H/L yesterday at Grand Rapids was 71/50 there was 0.63” of rain fall the sun was out 43% of the possible time. The highest wind gust was 31 MPH out of the W. For today the average H/L is 66/44 the record high of 88 was set in 1949 the record low of 26 was set in 1971 and 2005. The most rain fall of 1.06” fell in 1902 the most snow fall of 0.4” was in 1954. Last year the H/L was 64/38. The overnight low here in MBY was 48 there was 0.3” of rainfall since 7 AM yesterday at the current time it is cloudy and 52.
You mean the claims of about 40 or so babies being beheaded? Those were basically debunked months ago. I mean, even the official Israeli military press office refused to ever confirm them. That would have been wonderful propaganda material if it could have been confirmed.
(Propaganda is not always lies. Factual propaganda is often the most effective propaganda. That even the party who stood to benefit the most from the propaganda were it factual refused to certify it as such should speak volumes.)
