Tomorrow morning 17 years ago would have made this little dust up seem really stupid.

Pretty amazing someone born right around that time would be a senior in high school now... Certainly changed the trajectory of a lot of things.

Seemed like Andrew was doing the same thing.

No... just the opposite.    He was telling Randy that he was complaining about nice weather as if its exactly the same all the way to the Canadian border.   If Randy actually had his weather then he would not be complaining.   B)

I was wondering why you have said anything about Andrew's signature.

Can I hide just one person's signature?

Yeah. Click on your username upper right hand corner of the page. Should be a menu that comes down. Click on "Manage Ignore Prefs", the rest should be self explanatory.

I usually do it for people with really big sigs, just because it breaks up the flow of posts.

You constantly respond to laments about dry vegetation and endless sunny weather down here with pics of rain falling or of your lush yard.

I really don’t see any difference here aside from you don’t like the taste of your own medicine.

And if I had Randy's weather I would not be complaining either! The Lord sure works in mysterious ways!

Yes... to highlight the difference.

Andrew should have said that Randy would be jealous of his beautiful weather.   That makes sense.

It's seriously a time warp. I remember pretty much every moment of that day. Now I remember the latest instance of someone being offended/butt hurt in mainstream America for about four minutes. Then I get on my phone and entertain myself with something else for another four minutes.

I think you are younger than me? I was a senior in HS when it happened. '

So much changed. Before that all you had to do at the airport was walk through a simple metal detector and you could call all the way up to the departure/arrival gate when picking/dropping someone off at the airport. Crazy.

I remember back around '95 or so we had some friends from high school that moved back east fly in to visit. Their flight into PDX was delayed a few hours all told and we ended up running around that place after midnight on a Monday like it was an amusement park. They left a couple of the gate doors open and we were able to walk right out to the tarmac if we wanted to. We found some wheelchairs so you can imagine how that went...

Wow.  Feels like we've had 2" of rain in the last two days.

When will the deluge end?

d**n!

1.59 inches in Puyallup... and almost .60 in the last 2 hours.

1.21 inches at Bonney Lake... and .50 in the last 2 hours.

Yeah it was kind a of free for all in the past...I remember flying to Minnesota in 1989 and everyone on the plane including the pilots I think were smoking on the big old DC-10! But I was used to it though since both my parents smoked back in the day and would both light up in the car...but would crack the windows about a quarter of an inch...just enough to swirl the ashes into the back seat! Oh the good old days!

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

I was in grade school, but I remember it all. Or at least most of it. Everyone was pulled out of class after the Pentagon got hit (only a few miles from here). I didn’t really grasp the severity of it in the moment, but I could tell by the fear and the anger from those around me that I should pay attention, so I did.

I also remember how short the security lines used to be, and how all that changed. The change in community demeanor in the year immediately following is also pretty fresh in my mind. Even grocery stores weren’t the same.

Yeah the smoking is a big one from childhood. We had one restaurant in town and the place was like a off strip Vegas casino these days. We'd sit at the table drinking our hot chocolate and I remember my aunt and grandma at least having the manners to turn their heads to exhale. Of course it was totally pointless...

I was out in it tonight.  Varied between heavy, real heavy, and d**n heavy rain.

Sounds like the fire danger around there is down to low.

One of the most profound things I think I remember about 9/11 and its aftermath was the sense of American superiority and optimism that died that day, though it took us a while to realize it. My early childhood we had "defeated" communism, had a dominating performance in the Gulf War, and some of the domestic turmoil of the early/mid-90s had faded. America was the dominant lone super power and things were rolling along pretty well despite the occasion hiccup (dot.com bust, etc..). We seemed unstoppable. 9/11 in a sense shattered that illusion and we have never recovered.

Edit: Not a total cave yet, but that was a major move towards the ECMWF/UKMET solution.

Very early in the run too (big swing inside 36hrs..red flag that the GFS was/is incorrect with the more poleward solution).
