If we all moved there, you wouldn't be so special. Would you?!?!

And we'd get used to it and it wouldn't be so special anymore to us either. I would love to move to Montana, but good jobs are scarce and wages are pretty low.

That's probably the first interesting thing to happen in this sad excuse for a fall.

Portland had their coolest high on record for so early about a month ago. It hasn't been all bad.

Yep, and Mother Nature decided to go ham and dump fjords worth of rain on Washington and British Columbia in early November!

Been such an intense stretch that a slowdown wasn't just needed, it was inevitable.

Portland had their coolest high on record for so early about a month ago. It hasn't been all bad.

But I'd still say this is far and foremost the saddest fall in this decade, probably in longer. Every other fall contained some sort of significant weather event.

2006- Heavy rain, flooding

2007- Some heavy rain, crazy storms in late November

2008- heavy rain in early November

2009- huge storm mid October, windstorms in November

2010- also pretty lame, but a windstorm and a pineapple express

2011- several heavy rain events

2012- super heavy rain event and high winds in November

2013- windstorm for Seattle, late September wind and rainstorms

2014- windstorm, high east winds and early season ice storm

2015- heavy rain event on Halloween, windstorm in Seattle

2016- heavy rain event, Ides of October and preceding windstorms

2017- Heavy rain in late October, windstorm for Seattle, early season windstorm again for Seattle

Nearly every fall produced at least one decent event since then. Not this one. I think it's in line with this year, which in general has been terrible.

How far is it from your house to the nearest Walgreens?

Sadly no Walgreens in Bozeman...but the CVS is only 7.0 miles away!

Completely forgot about that one! That was cool (no pun intended). But most of these falls, even the lame ones, had an excellent year preceding it. Not this one, which increases the amount I abhor by that much.

Yeah, been a dryish and mild fall so far. There have definitely been ones I’ve liked a lot less (2014, 2015) but also ones I’ve liked a lot more (2007, 2008, 2013). The colors in October were nice this year, at least.

I bet most people out there think of snow like most people think of drizzle out here. A slight nuisance but otherwise just another typical winter season day.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

Bingo!

That is actually correct.    But now OR is the new CA... so you just side by on sidelines and watch the storm parade pass you by to the north and then come across as bitter saying it did not happen because SEA was in the Olympic rain shadow.

2015 actually delivered a very intense windstorm in March, and a very heavy rain event on Halloween. Not to mention the December that eventually happened. But this year hasn't even managed a single interesting thing.

Yeah pretty much. Except the skiers (myself included) always enjoy every new inch of snow.

It actually always amazes me how many people that live here that do not enjoy the snow. Why live in an area that averages 90" of snowfall yearly and you hate the snow?! It's not like we get paid the big bucks out here.

Olympia is the new Vacaville.

SEA and OLM are heavily shadowed with the recent pattern.    You know this of course.

Interestingly... some places in the central and northern Cascades are already at 70% normal precip for November in just the first 6 days.   It takes a serious moisture feed to make that happen.

anomimage-4.gif

Flushed out all the excess tropical moisture lingering across the Pacific after the hurricane season.

Untitled.png

This looked way different last week in the tropics... it all was directed through BC and WA over the last week.   That happened.   ;)

31 90+ at PDX this warm season was significant. Although it certainly wasn’t arrived at in an interesting or dynamic fashion.

There was a pretty cool thunderstorm around Father’s Day.

The snow in late February was neat.

Then of course the legendary 10/5/18.

Thats about it.
