Here too, the deciduous trees are starting to show some green. I’ll try to get some pics tomorrow.

Yeah... but you guys barely had any snow down there.   North Bend looked more like the North Pole for most of February... almost 5 feet of snow in one month in the valley.    <_>

Even so... we are right back on track now at the end of March.

It is interesting because the trees in North Bend look way further along than the trees down in Salem. But I guess since February 11th it has been quite a bit warmer up there. No real signs of spring foliage here, but my front lawn has started to grow a bit.,

Went outside a bit ago when my wife left for work and it was raining. Surprised to see that.

Looking at stream flows in E. Oregon, most of the rivers are pretty high. Normal flows are in parenthesis.

Owyhee at Rome: 3850 CFS (2070)

Umatilla at Umatilla: 3450 (1130)

John Day at Service Creek: 9230 (3740)

The John Day is actually flowing higher McDonald Ferry (13,000 CFS) than the Willamette at Albany (11,000 CFS).

Looks like another frosty night in store for many.  All in all this has been a very dry March with abnormal diurnal spread for this area.  It appears things have been more active and wetter down south.  The last I checked OLM was over 20 freezing low temps for the month.  Truly extraordinary for March.

On another note...it appears the recent quick spike in solar activity may have just been a hiccup.  Since then flux levels have dropped to about the lowest they've been with this minimum.  Hopefully the models that indicate solar min in early 2020 are correct after all.

Yesterday ended up being perfect tempature wise for kayaking. Kayak trip from Ollala to Blake island was 9 miles and took about 3 hours. Saw some porpoises and bald eagles and deer around the island. (Was hoping to see some orcas but no luck). Wanted to head out and kayak since it looks a pattern change is coming in our weather.

Nice day out there. Looking at the snow pack numbers this morning. They still look fantastic. John Day and Goose Lake Basin are now 167% of normal. S. Oregon Cascades bumped up to 119%.

Nature is balancing everything out for Oregon and CA.

Snow pack numbers look much worse up here... most areas either side of 70%.

Pretty meager up north. Kind of the inverse of what we have seen as the rule over the past several years.

This has been my dream late winter/early spring...something I might not see again in my lifetime. Transitioning from 41 days with snow on the ground to simply fantastic warm and a good mix between some wet days and many dry sunny ones.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

Apparently a “good mix” for you means building drought conditions!

I knew you would be posting something negative about my ideal spring post within minutes of me submitting it.

Did not seem like that last month!

Quite a turnaround here. Didn't even think that was possible so soon in March.

I was unfortuanly down in Portland last week when the Orcas were swimming off of Browns Point.

I would of quickly launched my kayak near there in hopes of them swimming my way! Sad Panda !

Sounds like you had a good time! I’ve got just a small river kayak so no long distance paddles in the sound for me. Just local

True. March is still running over 1F below average here. Though the next couple days will bump it up quite a bit

Much-maligned SEA is at +1.5 now for March... and I bet the Cedar Lake station near me (which is completely surrounded by forest) will end up about the same when the March numbers update. Its been quite warm here since the middle of the month.

It was also end up being a very dry month.
