49-50 was a Niña. It had westerly QBO (+) and this winter will have easterly QBO (-).

The last first year Niña (2016-17) also had westerly QBO.

Very nice.

My feet are chilly.

Mexico in February turned out to be the best week of the year! I had warm feet then.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

Very nice.

Just want to end this 6 year streak without a regional blast. Fingers crossed for blocking this winter.

My white whale is to ski in below 0°F temperatures. Hopefully it happens this winter, but if not I could just make a trip out to Idaho sometime and make it happen. Sun Valley’s average low temp in January is right around 0°F.

For me it's going to a football game in a blizzard and taking my shirt off (blinding the crowd) during the game.

Sorry about that... did not mean to interrupt the ranting about a lack of white Christmases recently in a place that almost never sees a white Christmas.   And doing so in June.

North Bend and rain tho

Keeping expectations right in line with climo... there is nothing unusual about this June.   I have said that many times.

We normally have 12 days with measureable rain in June... today is the 10th day in row.    We have not even reached the normal number of days with rain yet.   But they have been bunched together and focused on the weekends... so just some bad timing.    Some more summery weather would be very welcome right now... and that is also climo.   ;)

Ranting about a lack of white Christmases in a place that sees one about every 30 years seems to be ranting against climo.

What about rain in North Bend?

Side note... ranting about drizzle and a lack of severe thunderstorms in a region where drizzle is very common and severe thunderstorms are rare also seems sort of counter-productive.

Fly in the ointment re: QBO..the downwelling of easterly shear has been interrupted again, similar to 2016 in some respects. The fate of the 2020/21 QBO is more uncertain now.

For what little it’s worth, the 18z GFS looks more believable to me over the NPAC in the medium range.

I’m wondering how many days next week it will take to completely erase the regional cool departures for this VERY chilly June. My guess is 3-4.

Thankfully... even you admitted we have earned some nicer weather.
