Currently 62 degrees with a DP of 29.

RH is at 27%

The warm dry offshore flow was able to make it to the 🏖️ today. Hoquiam was able to get to 68 like SEA. Down here Astoria and Tillamook made it up to 72. PDX got to 71 for a +8 high departure but well off the record pace of 89 set back 8 years ago. Another beautiful day across the region. 🌞😎

I'm more or less focused on the temperature crash. Even if it doesn't rain the evaporative cooling from rain in the vicinity will cool things off quickly and substantially.

Finally got back from my big retirement/eclipse trip last night, feels great and weird to be retired now! Worked my a*s off from my mid 20s-low 50s, and the last few years I've been working some because I can and not because I need to, but now it's time to relax and retire. And now I have a lot of time for model riding!

Got to see a lot of beautiful redrock canyons and snowy mountains in Utah/Wyoming on this trip. We had pretty great weather the whole time, only got hit by a storm while we were in Wyoming, and saw some epic thunderstorms the night following the eclipse.

54 currently with a 28 dewpoint, 62/24 day which is the same high temp as yesterdays 62/17 day. Every single day when we were gone got down into the 10s or 20s at night, except for April 14th which only got down to 37, and the day with the biggest diurnal spread was April 10th with a 72/16 day.

Was looking at our temperature chart on the eclipse day, surprisingly the 26% coverage of the sun back home was enough to make the temperature stop going up, although it never really cooled down. Where we were in Arkansas experienced a 11 degree temp drop.

Coldest temp this winter: -7 Jan 13th

Snow depth at Mount Bachelor (last updated April 29th) 88"

Snow depth at my home (updated April 29th) late season 1"!

23-24 seasonal snowfall at home (updated April 29th) 92"!!

I actually said one GFS run from days ago looked very wet down there because it showed rain all day on both Saturday and Sunday.  It was an accurate statement on that specific run then and still is accurate when referring to that specific run.  It was not a prediction.   That specific run did not verify.

Crazy day... a gusty east wind becoming a gusty SW wind by 5 p.m.    And sunny for a good part of the day with a front early this evening but then the sun is back out by sunset.

I’m 47…Don’t think there will be such a thing as a retirement age by the time I get into my 60’s.
Still hoping for that elusive January 1950 redux at some point before I’m dead however!

It’s due to the cool/cold air heading east of the Cascades/Rockies. I love this pattern in April because it produces strong east winds and sunshine all the way out to the beaches! 🏖️ 🏝️ 🌞

I think that’s part of it too. My step mom is retired (but works part time), my dad has a great income, and almost no debt, and is already drawing limited social security on top of it. He enjoys his work and doesn’t really have any post retirement goals.

12Z GFS holding off any return to rain (after the front today) until Thursday now and then goes back to a fairly quiet pattern after a couple days.   Not seeing any real signs of a major pattern change.   Generally a variable pattern with plenty of nice days mixed in and not real wet overall.
