I recently discovered an amazing Hawaiian place here in Denver. I will be poorer for it. But it's healthier than any of these burger joints!

Hawaiian 🌺 food is the best. The mac salad is so delicious! 🤤 😋 It feels like I’m on vacation in Hawaii relaxing in paradise whenever I eat Hawaiian food. 🏝️

So do you literally sit and just wait until the next page starts so you can post a massive picture of something completely unrelated to the discussion that everyone has to look at for the next 36 hours. I’ll say the level of dedication is impressive if not a little sad.

That system tomorrow is a PNW classic. 24 hours of light-moderate stratoform rain and very little wind for just about everyone from Brookings to the tip of Vancouver Island.

Meanwhile it’ll be in the 90s here next week. The warm season lasts almost half the year now. Ridiculous.

Amazing day today, took advantage of the last decent day of weather for a while to abuse my body and mentally prepare myself for our Denali expedition starting mid may. Did a double hitter of south sister and broken top via the 3 o'clock couloir which made for a nice 27 miler with 9300ft of gain, all while carrying a 70lb backpack to prepare for the 130lb backpack/sled duo that I'll have to carry on Denali. At this rate, I'll probably be crippled by the time I'm 70.20240424_183348368.thumb.jpg.028dd7ece1684daba864317ea4501878.jpg20240424_183422936.thumb.jpg.2661c0fddd7a31facc8b974966a96ffb.jpg20240424-192623.thumb.jpg.6bdb43ef63d317deb5ec15c435b6d798.jpg20240424-192550.thumb.jpg.f964350532ed3e810a2fc2a214a85c85.jpg20240424_184203685.thumb.jpg.fced9b3f90b9879c99f480473c01cc87.jpg20240424_184427054.thumb.jpg.f38f9cf68d1180562c055e77caa9ac9e.jpg20240424_183258842.thumb.jpg.62f26a23f739e7889ab3bb2b2f551528.jpg20240424_184307291.thumb.jpg.1e7654b4d019372d9c24c5a1229d178c.jpg

Which La Nina strength is best for us here in the PNW Weak, Moderate, Strong or Very Strong? I used to think Moderate for the longest

Statistically speaking, weak-moderate. But that’s not always true depending on the entirety of the system state. In some situations, a stronger niña will perform better up there, while in other situations a lack of any ENSO/LF component is preferable.

Still doesn’t mean I want to look at a billboard of kinda nasty looking macaroni salad in 1080p in every time I log in. He knows what he’s doing, and I’m sure I’m giving him the exact response he wants. Might be time to use that ignore feature.

Seems like random ridging has been popping up on a few long range runs, including last night’s Euro. Would be nice if this general pattern could stick around for longer than a week or two.

That would be fun and fine with me especially if it consists thru the summer mixed periods of ridging and troughs.

Easiest cure for cravings is the smell of beef, turkey, or chicken. All three of those are revolting and I’d sooner eat pine needles off the muddy ground than consume such disgusting poison.

Fish, dairy, and veggies all day, baby. Keeps the body young.

An alternating pattern would be great.   If we have 10 days straight of deep troughing and rain there should be a nice reward for a few days.

That would be nice if it were possible. Seems like ridgy patterns really like to dig their heels in when they pop up from April-October though, so I never trust them.

Yeah after 2012 summer and thunderstorm outbreaks the climate to here changed I think those thunderstorms in 2012 was a sign of change for our summers.

Looking really wet the next few days. No real break from the rain until Saturday morning. Will be interesting to see now how much of the April rainfall deficit we can make up.

Palms in the PNW enrage me, but I'm not annoyed by them when they're somewhere they belong.

This weekend I'll probably make a trip to the willamette valley to poison a few dozen palm trees.

This is fun.

They belong in our Mediterranean climate because they do just fine.   You don't see them in Montana or Minnesota.   And it's just a tree.  It is just so sinfully delightful to upset people who are wrapped around the axle about a tree.   😀

One thing I ask the Gods for is no heat dome this summer for the Pacific Northwest!!!.

We always get at least one. They used to just be called “heat waves” or “high pressure systems.” Even the famously cool and damp 1993 “bummer summer” had a heat wave in early August.

As long as it’s not top tier torch after TTT all summer long, I will be happy. Even happier if smoke season is a no-show this year.
