Finally switched to snow here in the last 15 minutes.  It had been raining for several hours and totaled 0.20".

That warm tongue that popped up into Iowa today had some bad timing and was stubborn.

season snowfall: 34.8"

'22-23: 30.2"      '21-22: 27.1"      '20-21: 52.5"      '19-20: 36.2"      '18-19: 50.2"      '17-18: 39.5"

Average snowfall: ~30"

Look at that pocket of 42F water in Southern Lake Michigan.  When the column of air cools enough tomorrow while the winds howl off the lake, expect those bands to start flowing off the lake.  Notice how broad the 40F body of water is all the way up towards GRB.

Been in Chicago at UIC all day, so I was didn't get the full updates until now. It looks like the storm has gotten wetter from the looks of it. People definitely talking about the storm, and quite a few people at the stores tonight as well!

Winds shifted off the lake awhile ago. Low ceiling and near freezing now.

I'll trade haha Des Moines is getting smoked, pretty weak sauce here so far.

We had 1" in our first 3 hours of actual accumulating snow from 4-7p. Hope it picks up as it's really not coming down that hard, and it's going to be a struggle then to even hit 6". Our biggest flakes were earlier this morning when it was too warm to accumulate.

I think ORD could hit 18-19" depending on LES.

That lake plume which is poised to develop around midnight Sunday is prob going to be intense.  Gut feeling is it will drop 1-2"/rates, but not sure how long it can stay put before winds veer more northerly.  The consistent flow off the lake all day Sunday will be exciting and probably noticeable on radar.

I also hope this time they measure the snow correctly and properly unlike last year when they really screwed up!  Most co-op observations nearby reported 4-6" more than the official report last year.

Suprised there is broken up areas of 12" west of here. Would think it would be one continuous area.

Wow, 20" for Detroit!
