I think a lot of us have expressed confidence of another event this winter.  Usually a Nina winter that scores in December has more goodies later.

Kind of interesting to note tonight's GFS was a few degrees colder with the upcoming inversion than last night's run.  Could be a pretty solid chill coming up just with that.

The ECMWF had every day after Friday having a low of 33 or lower for SEA.  Not bad.

Nice improvements. Hopefully over the coming days we'll see models nudge the block axis further north-slightly north northeast to build higher heights over southern Alaska. IF so arctic air is going to flood into eastern Washington, Columbia Basin rather than dig out over BC with just chilly onshore flow. Very promising.

EPS has a mean of 40/31 on Feb 1 for SEA.  That is actually really good for that far out.  A lot of cold members.

Looking at the EPS meteograms again it appears some locations could easily pull off 10 to 12 mins of freezing or below over the next 2 weeks.  The advantage of going into a cold wave with a retrograding ridge.

****'s gonna flip on a dime once the calendar switches to February. This cold February phenomena is baffling. I have no earthly idea why (even when factoring out AGW warming) 1980-2022 climo has hated January and loved February so, so much...

The last FOUR years, starting 2018, have had Feb come in colder than Jan. By a ruthless margin. Wild. Feb 2019 came in at a savage 36.7°F, just 1.1°F warmer than the all time coldest Feb in 1956, and 8.3°F colder than January.
