Snowlover76
I think it was that and just the lack of precipitation overall. The overall amount of precipitation that fell was minuscule. I knew it was over when I woke up at 4am to take a leak and the grass was still there and not even covered yet. Oh well, on to the next. NEJeremy
coming down here the hardest yet, nice huge flakes too. too bad this won't last too long. right now I'm in the middle of the 35-40 dbZ returns, but it looks like it's about a 10 mile wide band that is moving pretty quickly. after this, there's nothing on the radar.might end up with 3" total. pretty disappointed we couldn't hit 6" to justify the warning, since we didn't have really too much ice last night. CentralNebWeather
Frustrated. The sun has even peeked out a time or two this morning. Well on to the next storm. I keep reminding myself it is still November and we have at least got to track several storms, though none around here have given us the results we were anticipating. Congrats for those that got a little snow, probably will be gone in a couple of days, however.

westMJim
I see a lot of areas in Nebraska that were in a Winter Storm Warning did not receive as much ice and or snow as forecasted. That also has been a issue here to the east of you as well the last 10 years or so. It can happen both in the winter and summer time. I can understand the issue with a Lake Effect Snow warning as lake effect is very hard to forecast where and the amounts. But we have had issues with systems snows as well. And most of the time its underperforming. Maybe the issue is depending too much on the models. And of course there always the err on the side of safety

CentralNebWeather
I teach at our high school. We just finished lunch and several teachers were talking about why advisories and warnings were issued when very little happened. I wonder if in this age of litigation that it is probably better to err on the side of caution. It seems like in the past they only issued warnings for major events. I would guess there are many school districts around us that are wondering why they called off today or had late starts. Our superintendent rarely calls off school or has a late start, always says the parents have the right to keep kids home if they like. He said he gets more complaints when he doesn't call off school than when he does. Darned if you do, darned if you don't. I wouldn't want those headaches of an administrator.

I'll take it, was a tough forecast for the day and I'm just hoping these storms can come together this winter and bury us all. CentralNebWeather
Still snowing hard here. 1 mile visibility in a heavy snow band. It is now blowing sideways. Hardest it has snowed for a while. This was a pleasant surprise. I will have to check amounts later, but they had said 1-3 which might actually occur. I have looked at some highway web cams and visibility around this area is poor.
