December 2015 in the Pacific Northwest

According to the new MM5 NAM... its going to even get close to supporting snow below 1,000 feet at the 925mb level tonight. Regardless of the timing of the moisture.

Or tomorrow.

Or all day Thursday.

The NAM has been showing a different tracking of the low for a while, nothing surprising.

Not really different... the low sits up near Vancouver Island for most the next two days then slowly sinks south.   ECMWF and GFS/WRF show the same thing.

GFS bring the low further SW, could make a big difference for the far northern locations. No difference for your area though

It has turned to half snow here now with a temp of 36.

00Z WRF says this is about it for the night for King County.

Its pretty much dry for us until tomorrow morning while wet most other places.

Have you looked at the radar? alot out there heading in.

Yeah... WRF shows all the stuff on the coastal radar sliding SE while the Seattle area is in the shadow.

Watch the precip loop for tonight on the WRF.     Here is a sample image for your enjoyment:

The WRF is finally beginning to show a bit of C-Zone moisture for King County Thursday night.  The fact it's showing any at all is a good sign.  I could still easily imagine the Central Puget Sound getting no snow at all from the entire event though.

Death To Warm Anomalies!

Winter 2023-24 stats

Total Snowfall = 1.0"

Day with 1" or more snow depth = 1
