Dewpoint around 80 at Des Moines with thunderstorms.   Too bad Phil is not going to the Midwest.   :)

Red Oak Iowa is reporting a dewpoint of 82 right now... same with Council Bluffs.

A little disconnect on the NAM... the 00Z NAM MOS guidance shows 81 on Saturday while the MM5 NAM shows 60s with low clouds all day.

Lol, I don't need to. Was basically the same here.

The dewpoint @realDCSwamp reached 79*F this evening, after an afternoon high of 99*F. All without artificial help from cornfields. This place is a special kind of stupid.

I have to say that is pretty nasty.

WTF were they thinking putting the national capital there?

Because they're actually shape shifting lizards. The swamp is their natural habitat.

The 00Z ECMWF also shows an odd area of low clouds around the Seattle area on Saturday afternoon with temps in the mid 80s.   Strange.

On the plus side, looks like a brief chance for some rain today into tonight before what looks like another prolonged dry cycle. Still haven't had a high below 70F here this month, it will be interesting if today breaks that streak or we manage to edge out another 70F+ high. The airport seems to have had a couple earlier in the month on stronger sea breeze days.

Pushing 33 days without measurable precipitation. It would be an interesting statistic if it weren't so darn depressing :(.

Pretty decent rainfall in the interior yesterday, where it was even more needed. An estimated 1,000,000 acres have burned in the past few weeks.

Sounds humid. Phil-like heat index?

It'll be warmer than average as long as I'm in the area.

I've never experienced cooler than average temperatures while visiting a city west of the continental divide.

I saw video clips of pouring rain in Williams Lake. I was happy for them. I was also happy that the rain I got dampened the soil enough so it wasn't a dust bowl every time I try to till.

Strongest trade wind burst since at least 2012.

A month ago they were longer

No... afternoons were the same length a month ago.   Evenings were a little brighter a little longer.

Interested to see what happens tomorrow.

MM5 NAM shows solid low clouds all day long... not the mid-level clouds we had today but actually low clouds.

NAM MOS shows 80 and GFS MOS shows 81 and the cool bias ECMWF shows 83.   None of those highs are possible with solid low clouds all day like the MM5 MAN shows.
