Jesse
12z GFS trended a notch cooler with the Sunday/Monday trough. Looks like the cold trough will be followed by mild rain mid-late week, then a cooler/more variable pattern in the LR has been creeping into focus. I saw you mention 2007 last night, which is when I went back and checked the records and sure enough, that’s the year I was thinking of. It snowed an inch here on April 6/7th that year, as well. It was a Niño/+QBO winter, so a bad DJF analog, but it also had a big pattern change in Feb (different to 2018 but similar timing). Then the cold shots continued across much of the country in March/April. This sort of feels like a “crossing of paths” between the two years as the seasons change and the ENSOs relax under solar minimum conditions.
