Storm in forecast was forecast to drop 2”+ over three days, now it’s dropping 1.5”.

Just noticed Medford reeled off 6 60+ highs from the 8-13th. The past two days were back to back 59's. So highs of 59+ the past 8 days. Pretty amazing.

So far the ensemble mean has a much more robust ridge, just needs to retrograde a bit more.

I made the Nov 2014 vs Feb 2015 as a success vs failure case earlier. The way this could fail is if the downstream breaker ends up impotent and there ends up being too much vortex in NE-Canada, like February 2015. That was a vicious Arctic blast for much of the US, but it snubbed the West because there was no high/+MSLP anomaly to the NE.

CMC looks poised for greatness at day 10.

 

The FV3 is also signicantly better than the GFS at day 10.
