Clouds are increasing and temps are in the 20s. Looking forward to some severe weather this weekend tbh.

This was a very impressive winter storm to hit the region.  Las Vegas saw 5 days in the month of Feb with at least a trace of snow which set a new all time record for the month.  I think we are seeing evidence not only in the U.S., but all over Europe, where snows are being seen much farther south in latitude.  Solar Minimum showing its signs???

Following this weekends Blizzard, the 500mb pattern shifts towards a more zonal flow with a rather fast west/east jet streaking across the region sending pieces of energy off the PAC across the region primarily from I-80 on north.  Some areas will likely see a couple disturbances laying down some light snow before months end.

Currently at 27F w mostly cloudy skies. Wild weather coming late this weekend. WOOOh000000!

Likely the Solar Minimim not the political AGW agenda at work.

Texas has had a very damp cold winter. I expected a snow but none appeared. I think our chances are over now.

 

If we can just get rain through early June maybe summer won’t be so bad.

Woke up to some drizzle, checked the snow. Looked like it was holding up pretty well. Felt a little optimistic things were going to turn out alright. Check the radar and models, this is just the warm up of rain. Ski hill is open today, guess they feel optimistic.

 

This snow is really wet and heavy, it's going to take a lot to melt it. It feels a lot like man made snow out there. At least it looks like that nasty yellow blob on both GFS models look like it's going to miss me. NAM looks like it's gonna hit me straight on with some heavy rain. fml.

The temperature here has now fallen down to 36 with rain it was up to 39. At this time there are some small thunderstorms in central Illinois and a lot of thunderstorms in western Kentucky and Tennessee. So do not be too surprised to see a flash of lighting or a rumble of thunder later tonight.

Winds are starting to kick in. My area can expect gusts to 60mph tomorrow, sustain 30 to 40mph. This is characterized as a TD system, in terms of strength.

1st thunderstorm of the year! That will make it 3 Feb’s in a row with thunderstorms I believe. Had a nice flash and clap of thunder.

Hope no power outages are reported tomorrow. People should secure any loose objects from outside and secure them somewhere safe, such as garbage bins, table umbrellas, light tables and etc. Winds will be crazy tomorrow

Currently cloudy and breezy w temps in the 30s (35F). No rain yet. Looking at the radar, it looks rainfree for quite a few hours to come. Future radar shows rain, but much later at night.

 

Btw: My cousins in Los Angeles told me it snowed there today

Models are suggesting multiple waves this Tue-Fri effecting a lot of members from about the I-80 corridor on north and I'm thinking of starting a thread for this multi-day/multi-wave event.  Some places look to score some decent snows from all of these waves and will add up to some healthy totals.

I think we're done with anything accumulating this far West till next weekend. Good news is we now have a 10" depth so even with a bit of melting due to sun angle, we're good.

 

Calm after the storm here. Nobody's on the roads. Guess we're lucky this thing happened on a Saturday. The only noise I hear when I step outside is snowplows. Full sun, but still very windy. Blowing snow today is gonna be a problem. I don't know why OAX didn't issue that WWA CWA-wide. For the most part, the areas they issued the WWA to for today didn't even get much snow yesterday (besides the Southern tier of counties). Something must have been slipped in their drinks. 11.1*F.

Currently mostly cloudy and a balmy 45F w temps tumbling into the 20s and teens later this afternoon and especially in the evening w snowqualls along w minor snow accumulations. I still have snowpack otg, which I find it hard to believe after all this mild air. I guess it is waiting for the next batch of snow to arrive.

Winds are roaring, windows rattling, branches flying off of trees...yup, I’d say a High Wind Warning was well deserved today! Gusts are already approaching 55-60 mph.

Here in Grand Rapids so far while it has been some what windy so far it has not been too bad. The high here at my house overnight was 41.6° but the official high at the airport reached 46. at this time the temperature here at my house is 33.4° with off and on snow showers (light) Did lose a lot of the snow pack but with the snow that was on the ground being very hard packed there is still around 3" of snow on the ground here at my house.

We still have good snowpack here too. I'm really surprised, I thought we were in some serious trouble.

Measured the snowpack in my backyard and it’s running about 13-14”. Had drifts of 2 feet as well. We’ve had 23” of snow since 2/10.

I put out there a question if anyone would beat my Jan 2014 total of 43" and I was serious. Is anybody nearing that? Jan ofc is 3 days longer than Feb, but I only had 1" in the final 4 days of the month, so adjust accordingly.

It was very windy today. I honestly cannot stand wind. Gusts had to be ova 50mph. Snowshowers have made the ground white  and my old snowpack is still around. Temps are dropping fast. Currently at 28F.

Had I not lived in the LES snow belts of NMI prior, my mind would've been boggled by that month tbh.

 

I didn't live here at the time, but even more astonishing is that Dec 2000 had a FOOT more here!

The La Nina pattern this month is well depicted by the CONUS snow cover map...will the glacier continue to be built???  Yes, and there is strong indication we will add to it next month.  52.8% of the CONUS is covered with snow today and we have a shot to hit 60% coverage by the 10th of March.

It is hard get new snow fall measurements from yesterdays snow but a good guess is about 1.5" give or take. There is now a total of 4.5" of snow on the ground here with the old snow very hard packed.  While windy it was not as windy as I thought it would get. At this time I am getting light snow and some blowing snow with a temp here of 14

Man, next week looks brutal w some snow chances as well. At some point not getting outta the teens for highs and lows stand a good chance of hitting subzero.

Lowest I saw here was -7 before the clouds have rolled back in.  It is now -3 with a wind chill of -16.  What a pattern we have been in and more to come.  By the way, NWS Hastings thinks temps for Sunday into next week are not forecasted cold enough yet by their office and look for adjustments down with multiple chances for light snows and flurries and maybe a little more of an event on Friday and over the weekend.

Still -4F here at 9am. Some of my neighbors that have lived in the TC their entire lives are saying this month has been one of the roughest they can remember dating back to the mid 60s. That’s saying something.

Currently at 16F w partly cloudy skies. The wind is not as harsh, thank goodness. Should diminish more as the day progresses.

At 12 Noon it is only 4 degrees with a wind chill of -16.  Ouch.
