Now starts the gfs games where every run is different by 400 miles of any low placement lol. It is at that period where it always looses what little consistency it has.

The EURO has had the more suppressed look too. GFS getting on board with a locked in final solution. OMG this is nuts. March 1951?!?!?!?!

My dog has the packed her bags and will be moving to Alaska if we don’t get to double digit snow totals for the season. We have 6” to go to hit that mark. I told her it will happen!

It'll trend North...

If it trends north it will be warmer for everyone and likely just some cold rain. The stronger push of cold air from the north is causing the suppression along the base of the arctic trough. Plz enjoy your sloppy rain Friday night. ;)

It always amazes me how you guys will trade days of cold weather for a few hours of slushy snow.

Either way the Thursday-Sunday period is LOCKED IN and looking great for all. Early next week could be OK for some folks up north or great for everyone if things get suppressed. Think about it. FROZEN GROUND IN MARCH.

Has nothing to do with that, there will be plenty of snow here that is a lock, just saying i do not trust this model. How can you when it makes changes like this at only 120hrs? that is huge HUGE.

The low on this run is much weaker, the cold air shoves it south. Not saying that's what will happen, but that's why its so much more suppressed on this run.

Yea.  Some morning frost in March would be mind blowing.  🎉

I’m enjoying this run 100x more than I’d ever actually enjoy that day

100% home dogg. Seriously, this is about as cold a run as you will ever see for the first week of MARCH.

Something interesting, the low placement is very near just spinning where it was in feb 19 when i got 18 inches with a forecast of 1-3. About same temps also. The placement is perfect to wrap around the olympics and not get blocked.

We are also running out of time to get snow so yes a suppressed pattern is better for cold, we don't have much time to say oh well we will get the snow next time.

The advantage to this pattern is the abundant moisture, the disadvantages are the lack of truly cold near-surface air in a southwesterly onshore flow regime and a lack of any widespread organized precipitation until early next week.

Past experience suggests that snow will pile up in the mountains above 2,000 ft, below that it's going to be patchy. If I had to guess, I think Sea-Tac gets an inch or two either Friday or Saturday AM (or both) and avoids the dreaded zero snow winter. Downtown Seattle probably stays all rain (or mix in any heavier showers) unless one of those little baby vortices happens to take the right track (Sat AM perhaps).

Holy SHITT! Lock the 12z GFS in, I couldn't ask for a better run. Absolutely nails mid and south valley, gives me 35" of snow and dumps on the cascades. LOCK IT IN! Tahoe guy will love this one too!snku_acc-imp.us_nw.thumb.png.a9ce048a53dd943c80a198f04e51a6cd.png
