00z Euro...for a late October storm, this is impressive in many ways when you consider the cold and the amount of snow that could potentially fall.  I'm really curious to see if these kuchera snowfall totals pan out given the cold temps and higher snow ratios.  Good thing is, for maximizing snow accumulations, those of you out in NE/IA have had about 24-36 hours of cold air to cool the ground surfaces.  Good luck to all!  Let it snow....

Look at those amount in the CO mountains. Ski resorts should have a banner kick-off to their season. Wish I was able to experience one of those resorts, but never have made it out there during winter.

How much are you expecting your way, maybe pull 5 or 6 inches.

Local forecast is 5-6 inches. It should be a dry snow that blows and drifts. Grocery stores are packed this morning, even though it won’t be a shutdown blizzard. First storm of the year always scares people.

Be safe and enjoy it!  People down here can't drive well on dry pavement, tomorrow will be interesting lol.

Thanks. Around here, being a rural community of 5600 people, it seems like most people have some type of 4 wheel drive pickup or all wheel drive car. I laugh at our school parking lot at the amount of pickups I see driven by guys and gals.

That's funny to hear. I met a girl from Holdredge in my UNL freshman orientation and I always wonder what life is like in every town. My little Toyota front wheel drive probably wouldn't hold up over there haha. Last winter was my first one with my car up here so maybe that was a blessing in disguise. Ice on my windshield as I'm typing so I guess there's been a little freezing drizzle this morning.

OAX original 1-3" call looking a lot more likely now. Hoping for the higher end, expecting the lower end. Like other people have mentioned though, any snow on the ground in Oct is a bonus.

We set our record last October in snowfall so I can take some or leave it.

Still... a half an inch would be nice just to watch.

First flakes here at 4 pm, but nothing on radar. Good sign in my opinion. Main storm is still out to my west and southwest. Heavy bands moving in this evening and overnight

It's gotta me a good sign the air was able to saturate easily.

Nice band of rippage stretching from Omaha to Lincoln. Snow is accumulating much faster than earlier. I need to go to bed soon and haven't measured recently, but grass is gone. I'm guessing we'll end with 2-3"

It’s ripping down good currently in Omaha as we are getting into some moderate to heavy banding right now. It looks like a snow globe outside and it’s amazing. Glad I woke up at 2am to check on how the storm was progressing.

Eyeballing it, would say we have about 1 1/2 to 2 inches of snow on the ground. Not bad and we should end up around what was forecasted (2-3” total).

Wow. I just went outside and was measuring 3-3.5". I kept trying to make sure I wasn't getting a drift but drifts were more like 5". It looks like it's winding down but I'll do another measurement in the morning. Most of it is from the past 90 minutes.

Congrats on the powder fella's!  Any snowfall in late October with temps in the low 20's is a win in my book if your a snow lover.  Anyway, at least you'll be able to enjoy it for a couple days in late October.  I'm hopeful this is a good sign as we head deeper into Autumn.

I would say to 2-3" so far and radar is showing a heavy band is moving up here from Northwest Kansas.  Weather apps are now saying potentially another 3" this morning if this band holds together.  When all is said and done, I'll probably be in that 4-6" range, more realistically 4-5 but we'll see.  Models are doing great so far this year it seems.

A nice band of snow moved through a couple hours ago and dropped 0.5" here.  This is our third accumulating snow event this month, totaling 5.1".  Last October we had two snow events totaling 6.6".  So, we've had nearly a foot of snow over the last two Octobers.  A location just north of Des Moines has received a foot of snow just this month.  It is supposed to be difficult to get any accumulating snow in October.
