Really getting lame here in dupage county. Hopefully this thing kicks up a notch or three.

It is beginning to fill in and it's about to move over your area. The lake should also enhance this. We have to wait and see what it does.

Not quite 9" here thus far. (Haven't cleaned my board off once though.) Pixie dust currently.

 

Shoveling that 1/2" of slush under the snow was a good workout!

This is what i figured and like to hear. Guess i got spoiled at the girlfriends house up north last night. Under the southern edge of that snow band that was dumping snow.

My total just hit 10.0". I had several measuring locations. Where I didn't clean off every couple of hours there is just 8.6". Temp is going down fast as well. Now 28ºF.

About 5.7" IMBY, sidewalks a slop fest...snow picking up in intensity Lake/Cook/DuPage picking up on some lake enhancement.  Geo's area getting in on the heaviest banding right now.  It's prob dumping snow by you!

 

Only if the temps would have been a few degrees colder...

 

Temps later tonight are supposed to crash into the single digits...Brrrrr!  I wouldn't be surprised if a location or two where the heaviest snowfall has occurred to dip close to zero.

Snow is now blowing off roofs. It's a nice dry fluffy snow now. Ratios must be higher.

Considering I barely have any snow the roads are in terrible shape. Drove for 40 minutes and did not see any salters or plowers.

Visibility is down to near 0 in Hawthorn Woods. I had 15" at 10am but it looks like over 16 easy now. Sitting right under the LES plume in SW Lake Co.

My brother took some pics of his family from Lakemoore in McHenry county.  He said he has easily over a Foot of snow on the ground.

 

I just got a txt from him and he said that visibility is only about a block driving through Hawthorne Woods!  That lake band is dumping snow!  Geo's, your gonna cash in big time buddy!  I can see the band starting to slowly pivot south.

I would get soaked with wet snow if I started shoveling right now. Huge flakes just plaster you. I think a lot of my neighbors are waiting a bit before starting the clean up as well.

Mt. Geo's lookin' heavenly...this snowstorm would be a good base for the season given the wet nature of this snowfall.  I bet your hoping it doesn't warm up as much next week!

Lake effect band, back over me. Just hit 10.9". It's a whiteout.

I'm prob sitting at 6"...that heavy band of snow last night was about 7 miles to my north that just sat and dumped snow.  That lake plume is now beginning to pivot south and seeing some better returns.  If this lake plume can sit around here for a few hours I can score another 2-3".  

 

Some nice convergence setting up near Kensoha/Lake/Cook/McHenry county right now....

Check out this radar imagery below...whoever is under that it's just dumping snow!  This is an incredible early season lake effect set up...thank you Lake Michigan!

+SN at the moment...1/8th mi visibility and the heaviest part of the band ain't here yet...winds have picked up dramatically as this lake plume shifts south...amazeballs!

I'm not sure on the exact amount, but I'd guess the total here would be 6-7", with probably more aprons 7"... Wonderful looking snowfall outside, beautiful.. Wish it would stay.

Right!  I just went out to shovel off 3" of slop...now the powdery lake effect is stacking up.  Just measure 3/4" in the last 30 min...its snowing even worse now then it was before!  Complete whiteout...looks like Buffalo, NY outside during their lake effect snow storm...amazing beauty!

Could be a stretch...but ORD may hit Top 3 snowfall in November with these snowfall rates...

It's modeled too. A better organized plume should develop later.

Getting icy here now. Down to 30°

 

You really need one of these or a snow blower around here. But even some snow blowers are struggling today.

 

 

 

I know this snow isn't going to stay until December, but it will be interesting to see how much it holds back temperatures until T-day.

This lake band is hitting pretty far inland all the way out towards western DuPage and may even get into Will county later on...

 

Just measured 2" in the last 50-60 min max...glad I shoveled when I did...

Down to 29F...folks in eastern Lake/Cook county prob will have another 2 hours of this.  I don't see the band sliding south that fast up towards Kenosha, WI

At 28° now. Flake size has decreased because the snow is drier now, but it is still accumulating and probably will for another hour.

A lot of ppl south of say Kankakee, IL certainly had a surprise snow with this system...given the way the models were forecasting this system to track yesterday.  Now it looks like S/SE MI is in line to get in on the heavier snow fall...north side of DTX doing well.

I am sitting at 16.5" storm total in Hawthorn Woods. The LES band has moved off to the south. Wet, heavy snow was tough to clear.

13.3" here. Light snow now.

Probably get to 14".

Reports of 16" in the north suburbs, un-official report of 7" at ORD...looks like a top 3 may be in the cards...

 

That 7.1" report at ORD was a couple hours ago, before the Lake effect really got going. I bet they are over 9" by now or near it.
