Are there any fires close by? Smoke could be coming from the 27000 ac snowy mountain fire in B.C. It experienced strong North winds last night and was close to crossing into the US.

Where you guys going to eat? Nova is a great breakfast spot but could be pretty packed on a Sunday morning. Jam! is another good option as well!

Was beautiful here yesterday. Little bit of high haze this morning but had some rain last night. Looks like it will be more smoky in Seattle this week.

Yesterday was beautiful at least. Our wedding was in the evening on our property. Had about 125 folks out, so it was really the only day this summer that really mattered. Beautiful beautiful evening and time. Went perfectly :).

Yeah there's two south of there and the one you speak of north of there.

At about 1 am or 2 am the reading crept up to 330. Chelan was over 200 at that point as well.

I'm surprised there isn't air quality advisories up and down the eastern Cascades at this point.

As I will be moving to Springfield full time in October I am beginning to shift my focus towards the south Willamette Valley. As far as those years go, all of them delivered wonderful events here. I think 13-14 was the best for Eugene/Springfield as the early December event dropped 6"+ here before going into the ice box and the early February 2014 event dropped about 8". Obviously the potential exists for a 1969-type scenario but those are very rare. Maybe a 1/100 chance of happening in a given year.

The Eugene area is a great place to live. Great college town and you're not too far away from lots of weekend getaways.

I don't know if anybody has seen this yet but Cliff Mass wrote a blog post regarding the wildfires a couple of days ago. A good read for anybody wanting to know how wildfires work here in the PNW.

The Great Irony: Cooler Weather in the West Means More Wildfires in the East

"It always seems a great irony to me. During the mid to late summer when western Washington cools down, wildfires explode over the eastern slopes of the Cascades."

A nice cool 54 this morning.

Can definitely see the smoke over Lake Wenatchee at this mid day hour.

Is that why 2010 and 2011 were such awful fire seasons? Not to mention the horrific fires during the cool summers of the 1950s and 60s.

What he’s saying might be true for current years when we are generally bone dry and warmer than average in the months leading up to summer. Then when you finally get a small cool down things blow up. But looking historically there is a clear correlation with cooler, wetter summers/calmer fire seasons and hotter, drier summers/more severe fire seasons. That should be sort of a no brainer.

Impressively cool airmass moving into the northern Rockies by day ten. Maybe that can nudge a little bit west.

Would be a solid western cold snap 6 weeks from now, given the same waveguides w/ the changing seasons.

Currently a heavenly 82/55 here in Gig Harbor, WA. Enjoying my last day here before flying out tomorrow around 1pm.

Went by way too fast, but I made a ton of memories. Hoping to return next year.

The 12z EPS still unloads the Arctic tap into the western half of the country during week 2.

Still going by D15.

Even less at SEA over the same period. 1.15".

Nina spring has led into a nice warm summer!

It seemed unlikely when I had almost half of foot of snow/graupel on the ground on April 2nd and the trees had been really punished for getting started early.
