November 2018 Weather in the Pacific Northwest

FWIW, there have been 2 cases of extreme cold pockets up in Canada during the last 2 years.

Big one in NW-Canada in March 2017 (-47C @ 850mb, which was the coldest ever recorded so late in the season going back to at least 1979).

Then there was last February (-48C over southern Baffin Island and Labrador, coldest ever recorded there in the satellite era, period).

New trend?

Except of course when it shows sunshine and a big ridge.

I actually ignore it almost every day unless there is chatter on here about it.

I thought he was saying he did not like it because he did like the ECMWF run so my post was to make him feel better.    I still don't know what it showed today.

Still waiting for real proof of a good late nov/early dec.

Might have to wait a few weeks.

Patience.

That's right. I forgot your location is also frequently dodging tornadoes, derechos, and CAT 5 lightning storms. Yawn...

Is there something controversial about what I said?

The pattern will likely reset in late November, with I believe a period of western troughing. I think it will be a window to have our first shot and some chilly weather. I don't think odds of an arctic outbreak are high, but perhaps some low snow levels and below average temperatures.

Yes, it's the first half of November. And it's still a storm.

If you say so. Full credit to you if it over-performs.

I'm not predicting a d**n thing. Just pointing out you have somewhat interesting weather to track in the somewhat believable future, unlike the vast majority of us.

I personally don’t find cold rain to be interesting. The colder the rain is, the more infuriating it is, if anything.

Watching New England get buried while I get drenched actually pisses me off. They’re constantly stealing snow that is rightfully mine.

^ This.

I knew you’d be all over that one.

Cold rain is a blessing during the summer. During the winter it’s just wasted precip that could have been snow.

I think you are letting your trolling of some people cancel out your well established trolling of others right now.

Yeah I slipped up this time.

But I really don’t like 35 degree degree rain. That means it’s snowing a few hundred meters above my head.

If it’s not 80+mph winds and zero visibility snow it’s WEAK SAUCE.

Eh, 60mph winds and 10ft visibility would suffice.

I’m realistic.

Depends on the season for me. 35 degree rain in April, May or October/early November would be awesome. Not so much in December or January, although I would take it over warm ridging since it would still be good for the mountains.

To them anything less than 11 inches is a joke. Tricycle weather.
