This is one of the most unusual winter storms that I can recall. I had 1.7 inches of rain overnight, 2 inches of slush this morning, then will probably tack on 6” of snow over all that. I have probably 3 inches of the fluffy snow that’s blowing around pretty good. I couldn’t imagine what the roads are like, especially county roads. I just can’t believe the nws downgraded us to an advisory, it’s the worst it’s been all day.

Okay this is actually very, very irritating. Reflectivities are vaporizing as they get here on radar. We could have gotten a solid hour of heavy snow had it stayed intact but now we'll be lucky to get anything larger than pixie dust. 31.5*F.

I will say I will not complain after this snowy surprise this system dished out here. Feel for our Lincoln peeps though for getting the shaft.

In downtown Omaha looks like a solid 5 to 6 inches of snow on the ground and maybe 1-2 to come. It’s a Winter Wonderland out here, will post some pictures later.

This is what radar looked last night. Effing ridiculous. Look how everything fizzled immediately before it got to LNK. I wish I could say that doesn't happen literally every snow event, but it does.

Any >15 dBZ returns are still fizzling as they get here, then re-strengthening after they pass here. This is unbelievable. We need to launch a scientific theory into a dome over Lincoln.

Light snow still coming down. I'm wanting to at least cover whatever grass isn't covered. 28.6*F.

KLNK suffer from down-sloping by any chance? Doesn't take much drop in elevation depending on conditions. Just a random thought cuz we see that in portions of The Mitt

22 Tornados reported in Illinois yesterday. My backyard looks like a pond, soupy ground, lots of leaves from my neighbors tree, broken tree branches...yuck, once it dries out it looks like I have a lot of yard work to do and tidy up the back and front yard. The entire neighborhood looks like this after the snow melt.

I picked up 0.81" of rain.  A couple hours ago it changed to snow.  The flakes were a good size, but it was pretty light, so nothing stuck.  Now it's just flurries.

This little bit of light snow is the first snow I've seen fall this season.  :(

season snowfall: 34.8"

'22-23: 30.2"      '21-22: 27.1"      '20-21: 52.5"      '19-20: 36.2"      '18-19: 50.2"      '17-18: 39.5"

Average snowfall: ~30"

22?! Dang. Too bad about the yard especially after already doing fall clean up.

Ya, crazy stat you typically see in the Spring let alone in the month of December.  I learned that IL has had Tornado's in 3 out of the past 4 years which is an odd stat as well.  As for the clean up, ya, that Blizzard last weekend has left its mark with damage and sloppy leftovers!

That's a nice little band moving towards Lincoln just had a quick burst here but back to light snow. Omaha lucked out on the band late last night for sure.

Yeah, looks like it's gonna hit my quadrant of the city too. It's weakened a bit but it will be pretty much the best return we have seen this whole time so I'll take it.

Just took a few measurements. Low end is 1.5". High end was 4". I'm going with a 2.5" tally here, though I have a gut feeling that may be too high.

Pixie dust still falling here. May get another couple tenths of an inch but I don't think we'll fare much better.

Is it just me Tom, or has the entire tornado alley sector moved?

The DFW area used to be able to count on at least 2 funnel clouds, if not tornados, every spring.  Today it's as bland as ever.  Even hail is not so common.  I'm not complaining at all, but things have shifted down here in the southern plains.

What's your opinion on our weather patterns in Texas in the future?
