I can't believe your elevation there that's crazy! How often do you have snow and there not be any down the road? At that elevation you should get a ton of snow.

I noticed that the last band of precip bought a coating of snow on Hwy 18 at Tiger Mountain just west of here.   That area is somewhat protected from the east wind.   No precip at all here... not even rain with that band.   Up to 42 in North Bend.

12Z GFS... snow yet to fall from now through tomorrow morning.     I looked back at the 00Z run just for fun and it showed that all of King County should have 3-6 inches of snow on the ground right now.   It really struggles with surface temps and the drying effect of offshore flow in these situations.

This is wrong since I now have slushy accumulation on my deck! 1st shade of grey territory!

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

The parts of Bellevue and Newcastle that are built on the slopes of Cougar Mountain can be quite high. The highest elevations one can get that close to the City of Seattle, in fact.

12Z ECMWF takes an entirely different path later this coming week... suppresses the moisture much farther south.

At this point I’d like to get on with our melt. It can snow more later, but not til this melts. It’s just 20” of slush.

Looks like its just temporary... the moisture is being pulled north shortly after.

Also why I am glad we missed out entirely on the big snow events over the last 10 days.    Small snowfalls are fine but I didn't want to have to wait out 2 feet of snow melting slowly.

Nice. I don’t mind a few days like that in the spring. Pretty typical to have at least a few of those in March. I don’t mind the snow cover as long as it’s frozen, but it’s just a slushy mess now. These 36/30 type days don’t really melt it more than an inch or two a day, and they don’t totally freeze it solid at night either.

We actually had a day in the mid 60s in early March 2012, before the cold pattern re asserted itself.

This is probably the biggest disparity in snow for our locations since March 2012.

Not sure I mentioned this, but the 11.6” we got last Sunday was out biggest calendar day snowfall since March 21, 2012.

Hard to complain about these last two Nina’s. A few dull stretches in January I suppose, but overall hard to ask for more aside from a legit PNW centric arctic blast. Back to back 50”+ snow seasons, for the first time in 12 years. Solidly cold winter this year. Sure there are nits to pick, but why waste the energy.

Or late February. We’ve only managed a total of 1.3” so far this March, and I don’t see a ton more in the next week, but yeah, late season when the events are more onshore based, I think the elevation plays a bigger role, and the troughing is more full latitude. I guess last April is another good example, we had 18”, I don’t think you had much.

We had a couple inches but it took forever to melt... it kept snowing a little each night then melting a little each day but held steady overall for a week which is crazy for the middle of April.
