Radar has filled in nicely in the South Sound over the past half hour or so.

It will be very interesting to see how long we can hold onto precip later this morning.

They really drug their feet on this one. No idea why. By 5PM it became apparent that the snowier models (Euro) were going to be right but they still waited.

Not that a WSW or WWA really matters in the grand scheme of things but something about it makes it feel more official. Even if they are a curse sometimes.

It was pretty obvious they took the wait and see approach... and on a very conservative side, from the local mets to Cliff Mass. The word “uncertainty” was mentioned more than I could count over the weekend and even Mass said this would be a non-event for Seattle even the models said yes. I don’t doubt it’s an extremely difficult forecast with snow around here, but things are playing out how the models painted it 24 hours ago and accumulations are higher than expected.

I've written an update regarding the higher-than-expected snowfall.

Soak it in, forecast failures in favor of snow lovers are rare to come by.

Roads have been white for awhile here. Doesn't look like too many are venturing out yet.

Wonder if this snowfall will be heavy enough to cave any carports?...

Well I just came back in from getting the snow load off my carports...probably have at least 6” on the ground and still snowing moderately with a temp of 19.8.

Funny to think that just one week ago there were forks flying everywhere since it looked like we were going to have one of the most boring winters ever...

My toes are cold from being outside for just 15min...LOVE IT!

Yeah I remember the forks and meltdowns here.

I'd say about 5" here now. It is stacking up quicker now thanks to mid 20s.

Yeah, the FV3 looks especially good. Like the EURO, shows good snow for later this week into early next week. It shows over a foot of snow for both PDX and SEA through day 8.

Don’t think many schools will be operating this morning...

That's for sure. Although I'm not sure the roads will get much better during the early part of the week.

Will be fun to see now how cold it gets tomorrow night if skies clear out.

With this deeper snow cover...I could see lots of single digits popping!

Wonder what kind of totals are falling out by Port Angeles and Sequim. Radar suggests they're doing good.

27* and zillions of tiny flakes blowing

Some good north winds out there (18 mph guest)

Looks like the snow willl stop in a bit.

I’m guessing just around 2 inches but need to go find a place to measure that wind hasn’t disturbed

Kind of feel like I’m living back in Troutdale with the blowing snow :)

Should have added the winds are going pretty good. Snow blowing off the roof tops. Haven't seen that in awhile.
