February 2019 Weather Observations and Discussion Part 2

Stayed cold thru the mid afternoon here with very low depoints. I noticed the icicles on the east side of my back deck continued to grow thru the afternoon.

 

Wow... we had icicles earlier in the month but there is nothing like that now even on the north side of the house.

yes, but a relatively benign weak ridge would still produce -15 anomaly if there was a foot of snow over columbia basin at this point, because the area would still fake cold.

Not in March. You need a cold airmass too. Like what is advertised.

It feels a lot colder here at home than it does at work in Kirkland with partly cloudy skies and sun with temps in upper 30s. Mostly cloudy skies right now with stronger north wind.

Speaking of something, how is our little deformer looking? It kinda fizzled out earlier, but does it look like it’s gaining back some steam?

Deformation disaster up here.   Our little guy is dissolving into thin air.

Solid dusting here. Most of the day. Wind has backed off too. Light snow and 33 after a high of 37.

Just as I typed that started coming down a little heavier. Could score a quick half inch or so if it keeps up like this. Maybe it could? Pretty had to tell what the radar is doing in these setups, precip just kind of morphs out of thin air.

-15 vs -25. If you didn't have the snow cover, the cold air mass would have never made past the great divide into intermountain region like that.

Ran several satellite loops. Look like it could be on its way out 7-8pm.

Would  be nice to score at least some partial clearing tonight, but I bet we won't. Seems like the low clouds always hang around in these situations.

It's a weird progression. No more than a dusting north of Albany on the 3K NAM. 1-3" for EUG and up here.
