Anyone else ever heard of a category 5 hurricane?     :)

https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/vb5v3d/trump-keeps-saying-hes-never-heard-of-a-category-5-hurricane

President Trump seems to be having a hard time remembering any Category 5 hurricane, even though there’ve been quite a few during his presidency.

He even seems to forget such things exist — like he did twice in less than 15 seconds, in a FEMA briefing on Saturday, as Hurricane Dorian started to close in on the Bahamas.

“I’m not sure that I’ve ever even heard of a Category 5, I knew it existed,” Trump stated, then added moments later: “A Category 5 is something that, I don’t know that I’ve even heard the term other than that I know it’s there.”

In September 2017, Trump exclaimed about Hurricane Irma, “I never, never knew a Category 5 existed,” and then about a week later, when Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico, he called it “a Category 5 storm, which literally never happens.”

I don't like that either.

Does not mean I like Trump.

Takes a moment to load but cool animated shots

Just fascinated how Dorian is following the contour of the East coast!

Currently 73*

Looks like Dorian could become a major hurricane again at landfall. Hopefully everyone evacuates the Outer Banks!

Ryan Maue @RyanMaue

So, #Dorian may be a major Hurricane at landfall in North Carolina late tomorrow evening.

Yeah, give me 08-09 over 13-14 any day of the week. I will always sacrifice some cold air for more moisture.

13-14 with larger deformation precip shield. 08-09 was torturous down this way.

It appears that Trump used a map today from 4 days before he made his Alabama mistake... because the track has shifted dramatically when he made the comment about Alabama on Sunday.

And then on top of using a map from 4 days earlier than his comment... he also appears to have drawn in a line with a marker on that map to include Alabama.   You can't make this stuff up.

Cousin getting a bit nervous now regarding his rental on the Outer Banks. Luckily it’s just that and not his primary home.

At this point he’s expecting just minor damage. Watching with great interest

February 6-8 14 was pretty fun up here. Three snowstorms on 3 consecutive days doesn't happen often.

Just happened here 7 months ago. 2/8-2/11 was 3 waves of snowfall here.

Did Tacoma get snow in Jan 2004? That was one of the better snowstorms in these last 15 years in the PDX Metro.

He must have also not known there was an EF5 on the tornado scale. We have a city in the US that was struck by 3 of them in 20 years (OKC) :P

Yep. 2-3" on 1/1, another couple inches on 1/4 with the Arctic front, then about 6" on 1/6 before it changed to freezing rain.

Pretty crazy to think I was only 4 years old when that happened just about to turn 5. I don’t actually recall this snow event actually happening though. The first snow I really remember in my life was November 2006.

Funny story that Bob told me. This happened sometime in the 80's. He and some other relatives own a condo building with a pool. There was a bar across the street and the longest pier in NC. Anyway, a waterspout came ashore and it picked up thousands of empty beer cans that were stored outside of the bar. They completely covered the pool to a depth of about a foot. The bar employees were nice enough to retrieve them.

Another one brewing Sept 19th

If the Bahamas get hit again that would be absurdly cruel and unfair.

But yeah, I don’t think the US is done by a long shot after Dorian. The season could keep going strong through October given how the system state appears to be trending.

T'storms occurring in northern CA, been seeing flashing last 30 minutes or so to the south of the border.

Radar trends favor me getting some action in town sometime before midnight.

A close one right near the house now. Was about to step outside and then a CG struck just a couple blocks from here.

Crackle type bang you don't always hear in the PNW. Interesting thunder tonight.

Sometimes there are minutes pass and nothing, then suddenly a handful of close flashes. I haven't pulled out the camera yet.

Was in a hotel room back in 2001 I think in Thermopolis, Wyoming. CG bolt hit in the street about 30 yards in front of me just out the window. All of my hair was standing up like static electricity and I could feel the discharge like an electric fence all throughout my body. The crackling sound was weird. Heard that almost as loud as the boom.

00z models look pretty favorable for some periodic thunderstorms moving into the valleys from late morning Thursday into Friday morning across western OR and SW WA.

LI's forecast to get to -6 in the valley as the upper low swings into a favorable position offshore.

Looks like I’m slightly too far north this time. It’d be nice to see more but have already had t-storms on 6/27, 8/9 and 8/29 this summer.

Nice, I just remembered Feb 2018. I think we also had 3 snowstorms over a 4 day stretch.

Feb. 2018 was a minor snow event here. Had a trace on 2/18, then got 2 inches on the night of the 21st, then a half inch on the 23rd. Was just slightly too warm the whole time except for the night of the 21st.
