Whatever rain is on the back edge is getting eaten by the dry air it looks like.

Happy Sunday everyone!  ORD picked up 2.18" of rain from the strong system yesterday.  It was the wettest Oct 26th on record.  2nd wettest day of the year so far.  Olga's remnants certainly have left her mark around here.

Edit: By this time next week, models will have come in 1 hour earlier....!!!

Good morning. It was a very wet night last night and new records were set for October 26th the new records are 1.11” at Grand Rapids. 1.38” at Muskegon and off to the east 1.52” at Lansing. 1.52” at Detroit and 1.16” at Flint. Here at my house I recorded 1.53” of rain as of 7AM (note the above records are as of 12 midnight and thus are for October 26th) The official H/L at Grand Rapids yesterday was 51/31.  For today the average H/L at GRR is 56/39 the record high is 78 set in 1927 and the record low is 19 set in 1976. Last year the H/L was 48/37.

Sure we had the the "Olga effect" with this, but these are very impressive winds for the not-so-deep SLP passing through. Seems to be a theme with the new pattern. Imagine if/when we add arctic air mass interaction?

As far as the Halloween storm, it looks pretty impressive. Could have good amts of rainfall w this system:

Large upper level trough deepening over the western half of the N.A.
will setup a quasi stationary boundary over the western Great Lakes
Tuesday lasting through the end of the week. This will produce a
chance for rain Tues/Wed with better chances Thursday and Friday as
a strong wave dropping through the base of the trough spins up a
large low pressure system over the southern Plains that will lift
towards the Great Lakes. At this time, the main low system looks to
stay west of the CWA keeping the area on the warm side and precip
mainly rain.

Gorgeous morning out there today with pristine blue skies, although, its very damp/wet and there are a lot of leaves that fell yesterday.  Many cars sitting outside are plastered with leaves.  Once things dry out, I'm sure I'll hear the neighborhood buzzin' with leaf blowers.  I'm usually the type of guy that waits till there is a sufficient amount of leafs down.  l'll likely wait till next weekend after the Halloween system to rake my yard.

My maple out front is half down. Might rake, might wait it out like you. Back fortress of hardy maples are next month's chore. Only a hint of change on those attm. Meanwhile, areas around Jackson and in the countryside between are already past peak. Some even nearing no color due to only grey/brown leafs remaining. It was a dramatic but brief color show this year. Similar to last year, the impending cold seems to be "pushing" the leafs off.

There are a lot of trees now that are starting to become bare. Also, leaves are all ova the place. Kinda makes it a little dangerous w wet roadways, if braking is stopped abruptly. Gotta watch out on distance.

From Hoosier @ Amwx (there's my '89er  ;) )

So the last time that Chicago had 0.5" of snow in the month of October?  Have to go back to 1989, which had 6.3".  Only 3 Octobers since then have produced any measurable snow -- 1992 (0.3"), 2006 (0.3"), 2014 (0.1")

What a picture perfect fall day. Abundant sunshine, crystal clear skies, and temps pushing 60. Absolutely gorgeous. Have to enjoy it cause looks like 40s and rain return next week.

Exactly. Its going to get very raw. Heck, might even see a few wet snowflakes at the tailend.

Would've been a nice late day to clean up from a bliz which is what TS Olga would've been in winter.  ;)

The calm after last night's assault. That one headline is actually in APX's region.
