Bryan1117
Last band slowly working through now on this first wave. Got a dusting on the cars and grass. Although I have to say my favorite part was taking my daughter out in. She was mesmerized.Any snow in October in this area is a bonus, so I am enjoying every little bit of the coating of snow that we got here in Omaha tonight. I wasn't expecting much more than some mood flakes, so to see some snow on the ground is good enough for me.
East Dubzz
00z NAM seems like it’s shifted further East. This thing is going to miss my area at this rate.
Stormy
Had light partially melted snowflakes flying quite awhile, but when I checked a bit ago it was really coming down with some big flakes. The grass has a dusting now.

ToastedRavs
We're at about half inch to 3/4...pretty much all in the past hour. Good enough to make the grass white. Still coming down but the best is probably over for my area. Just a nice appetizer
Hawkeye
We are halfway through the precip band on radar and the pavement is barely even damp. It's still 35º. The snow is picking up, though. A thin band of yellow just popped up on radar over Cedar Rapids, although the north wind may be blowing it to the south side. East Dubzz
Don’t really care about accumulations. Just want to see some snow. Still nothing yet, at least that I’ve been able to see.
Minny_Weather
Grass is getting covered, probably 1/4-1/2" and still snowing lightly. Roads are just wet. D**n, 3rd straight year with first accumulating snow for most of Lincoln in October (except the airport apparently in 2017 lmao). 2 Quote Formerly *ahem*: LNK_Weather, TOL_Weather, FAR_Weather, MSP_Weather, IMoveALot_Weather. Hawkeye
00z ICON is about the same... some light snow reaching back to the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City area Wednesday evening. The yellow band appears to have barely veered off to my east. It's snowing and there is a dusting, but it's nothing heavy. Stormy
Those are patently false and I know this because there are 12" reports in eastern Iowa on both of those maps, and I can assure you that doesn't happen here. Was that maybe just sarcasm? Lol But I can assure you it does once in a great while. Just last year on November 25 I got approximately 12" in one day! That time I could tell there was less snow less than 2 miles north of me. That's how close to the north edge I was! I also checked my records and saw I picked up around one foot on several occasions just since 2002, but those times it all occurred in several days time. After a snow ends and resumes within 24 hours I'll keep adding it to the "storm total" even if it might be from a different system. The Ground Hog Day storm total in 2011 here was 13.7" or so from January 31 to February 2. Another thing I checked was Terry Swailes' book which has other 1' + snow events in eastern Iowa prior to 2002.
bud2380
Snow is coming down pretty good here. I’d say moderately snowing. Some grassy accums and my deck is covered. Nothing sticking to the pavement though.

Hawkeye
Yeah, the GFS continues to keep the energy more focused. The southern Canada energy is not tugging on it and stretching it out nearly as much as other models. I thought maybe the GFS would begin the cave tonight, but not yet. I still expect it will. It's snowing pretty good here... small to medium flakes with a few larger flakes. Hawkeye
The other models, which have trended east and weaker, are down in the 0.30" range combined this week for Cedar Rapids. The 00z GFS shows 1.50". I'd certainly put my money on the others. The GFS should cave tomorrow. 1 Quote season snowfall: 34.8" '22-23: 30.2" '21-22: 27.1" '20-21: 52.5" '19-20: 36.2" '18-19: 50.2" '17-18: 39.5" Average snowfall: ~30"

Hawkeye
It's too bad this is moving through so quickly. I'm at about 0.8" on the car and it's coming down pretty good. The flakes are larger now. We should get another hour of moderate+ snow. I just wish I could stare out the window and watch this during daylight. Going to the other room to see the snow in the street light isn't the same. 1 Quote season snowfall: 34.8" '22-23: 30.2" '21-22: 27.1" '20-21: 52.5" '19-20: 36.2" '18-19: 50.2" '17-18: 39.5" Average snowfall: ~30"

East Dubzz
tonight's wave sure looks legit on radarSnowfall rates are definitely there. Warm and dry air to deal with a little, but the biggest downfall is just how small the precip shield is.
