But the lower level CAA up there is much more impressive than the airmass aloft. The upper level airmass two Saturday's ago was actually slightly colder. It is a fairly decent airmass aloft though or else it would have just been rain here since until about 30 minutes ago we had south winds. 1 Quote Snowfall Precip 2022-23: 95.0" 2022-23: 17.39" 2021-22: 52.6" 2021-22: 91.46" 2020-21: 12.0" 2020-21: 71.59" 2019-20: 23.5" 2019-20: 58.54" 2018-19: 63.5" 2018-19: 66.33" 2017-18: 30.3" 2017-18: 59.83" 2016-17: 49.2" 2016-17: 97.58" 2015-16: 11.75" 2015-16: 68.67" 2014-15: 3.5" 2013-14: 11.75" 2013-14: 62.30 2012-13: 16.75" 2012-13: 78.45 2011-12: 98.5" 2011-12: 92.67" It's always sunny at Winters Hill! Jesse
Based on some quick research, it appears if today's high of 42 holds at PDX, yesterday's MAX of 42 and today's will stand as their coldest back to back highs this late in the season on record. From what I can tell anything below 45 today would have done it, actually. Today also tied for their third latest measurable snowfall on record (it also snowed on this date in 1955). mtep
Me and some buddies took a hike up to about 820' on the Samish Crest Trail a little while ago. It really felt like January up there, my hands and face were completely frozen with the wind. Gorgeous sunset though. TigerWoodsLibido
Got up to 46F. Seasonably cool day. Hasn't felt all that interesting though. If someone lived here and didn't pay a ton of attention to the weather, they would have never known that the entire rest of the PNW had a more interesting winter than we did. Though it is odd that we had over 50 days with sub-freezing temps and only one sub-40F high, all the way back on November 30. That feels like it doesn't happen very often. Deweydog
Got up to 46F. Seasonably cool day. Hasn't felt all that interesting though. Phil
I probably got about three hours sleep last night. I knew that was our big event for the season so I tried to enjoy every minute of heavy snow that I could. Almost impossible for me to sleep through that stuff, even if I have obligations the next day. I will just catch up on a different night. You made the right call.
