March 2020 Weather Discussion for the PNW

Outlet mall parking lot is absurdly empty for a nice Saturday afternoon in the spring. And the strange dichotomy of spring arriving and nature coming to life standing in stark contrast with the gloom of the current situation in the world and locally continues. Feels surreal.

Completely the opposite here this morning, the stores were packed with panic buyers. Most offices in town are closing and switching to fully remote next week.

All moisture here is falling as snow. I wonder what’ll happen if one of those heavier cells make it into the metro.

Took the family and a dog to the Skagit Airport, they have awesome walking trials and I knew it would be quiet, which it was. Very little activity out in the world at the moment. About the only “out and about” activity we will be doing. Definitely nothing indoors away from home or crowded areas.

Anyway it was a nice day, chilly and breezy but nice!

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

I'm glad I naturally like outdoor activities far away from other people because that is just about one of the safest things to do outside of the house right now.

To each their own, but it is like hiking!

I honestly will never understand the obsession with cold weather for some on here (which is fine)... but this might be a good time for even them to stop wishing for winter to continue.   Not that their wishes will change anything... but we have enough problems right now.

I'm a big fan of the 18z GFS!  Just looks colder for pretty much every day days 3 through 10 at least than previous runs.  Looks like northerly flow with about 549 heights Tuesday and Tuesday night.  Should be crisp for the most part.  The 8 to 12 day period bears watching for another solid cold shot.

Some beautiful weather late in the 18Z run as well... in addition to the gorgeous weather through next weekend.

Today ended up really nice too... more sun than I was expecting.
