Perfect weather for the M’s game today. I took my two year old and her 11 year old cousin. They wanted to go all the way to the top so I spend like 2 hours up there. You can almost see the game from those seats, easy for the eyes to drift over the the ferries and mountains.

Smoke is just north of the border now and moving south.

You can see the haze moving in from the north over the past hour or so here.  Seems elevated and thin.

Also can see it on the Space Needle cam to the north just after sunset.

Fun little thing to know - you’re heading into the right latitudes at the right time you might be able to see Lahaina Noon. This is when the sun is at a 90 degree angle and no objects cast shadows - apparently it looks pretty surreal if you can catch it, but it only happens twice a year.

I'm calling B.S. on the tree photo. In order to cast a shadow like that at noon, the tree would have to be shaped like a flat-topped cylinder, with a thin fringe of leaves along the outside edge and nothing on top.

It looks like a stylized representation of a tree like you'd get in a computer architect program.

HRRR-smoke has the thicker smoke farther north over BC mixing down to the surface tomorrow morning before quickly departing. Given that air quality is in the green in central BC I'm not too worried. Tomorrow night is a guaranteed bad AQI night anyway due to fireworks.

Not terrible weather the past few days. Ended up with an 84/55 day here yesterday. Brief morning clouds, breezy north winds into the afternoon and evening.

Got down to 54 this morning, the overnight recoveries have been nice. Looks like 90s the next 2-3 days after today, but 100 might be a taller order for Wednesday than it was looking a few days ago.

Didn’t snow much in Corvallis either. So many teasing near misses and dustings but no direct hits. Don’t get me wrong, consistent cold is great, but “so close yet so far” over and over gets pretty annoying.

The smoke situation up in BC looks pretty good today.   I think that system was helpful.   I doubt the smoke gets too bad down here this week with very little upstream right now.

It's true, most of the Willamette Valley didn't get much snow last winter. On the other hand, all of the valley got some snow, and it was one of the more consistently chilly winters in memory.

Yeah the south valley is really bad for snow. Once in a while we get a big event but it’s pretty unusual compared to northern areas. One of the big reasons that I want our family to move.

I see its actually raining farther north around Dawson Creek closer to the area with the active fires.

My mom is pretty sensitive to the smoke. (Bad asthma).  She said it’s quite strong smelling and stinging her eyes but visibility is pretty good.    I’m not really sure how smoke works. I’ve seen it where you can barely see across the lake and you can’t even hardly smell it.  I really have no idea if that means much for us down here tomorrow but I doubt it gets too bad.

This webcam at Bridge Lake is to the east of Watch lake.  Looks a little hazy but not bad.  Air quality is showing a moderate reading there

12z Euro shows 99 for PDX on Wednesday. It usually runs 3-4 degrees too cool so 100+ still seems like a good bet according to what is arguably the best model.

Also shows 87 for today which makes a good case for 90+
