we had two bonds we voted on today to raise leeves again for schools and school services.  voted against both.  hope they fail

That's one thing I feel strongly about in the opposite position. Always vote for schools because it benefits the community. My parents had us three kids in private school for all years except my brother's junior/senior HS year (so he could play football). They felt schools benefit the whole neighborhood. Esp when people move to a new district, they are in the opinion that they don't need it. But we can agree to differ.

WA/OR have way, way more in common culturally with BC than they do with a good chunk of the U.S.

You're like the most reasonable person on this forum. I won't deny the importance of schools, especially historically as a center of the community. But like everything they have become very political, and with an aging population and cratering birthrates, like many social institutions they are in steep decline.

00z Euro looks significantly moister for the Central Sound. 0.5" of QPF for Seattle v. 0.2" on the 18z.

Lots of 35 degree slop coming IMO.

I get it, I typically vote blue.  I was a product of public schools back east but somehow SC seems to do it with much less property tax.  (they do have income tax though and lower school expenditures per student).  But I'm getting taxed to death every 2 years or so rotating between school bonds/levies and public safety/fire bonds/levies.  Our bond failed (it needs 60% to pass) and levy passed (it only needs 50.1% to pass)

The upcoming event seems like it would give you guys a decent amount of snow. How much do you average there? I've heard before that the La Pine area averages around 110" a year.

I believe la pine actually averages about 90. I honestly have no clue what the exact amount my location averages, its not really possible for me to keep track of annual snowfall, but if I were to guess, I'd say I average 80-95 inches. Some parts of sunriver get MUCH less snow than me though, I believe sunriver resort gets only about 60 inches a year, even though I'm only 2 miles towards the southwest of them, and 100 feet higher, it makes a HUGE difference.

That's interesting. But we get about 35-40" here at 1600' and places below 1500' get probably half of what we do. A little elevation makes a huge difference.

I would love to have the ECMWF precip and the GFS temperature profile tomorrow night.  As it is the ECMWF is a bit better for snow so we are on a good trajectory at least.

One interesting aspect of this system is that the ECMWF has been consistently showing temps a little warmer towards the foothills in the middle of the night tomorrow during the precip.   This is the opposite of the last event with cold air coming through the pass.

Anyone know what happened to Ghusky (?) They were going to go to college in Walla Walla but haven't posted yet this winter. I forget their user name but it was something similar? Not Husky Maestro.
