27 this morning with 3 inches of snow on ground.  Impressive couple days of winter after a high of only 34 yesterday.

39 and sunny here this morning after getting a grand total of 0.00 in precip and no snow.

Always fascinating how different our areas can be depending on the direction of the wind.

For the majority of people the past couple days will only be remembered for what could have been.  Just a touch too warm but overall pattern was quite close to a widespread snowstorm.

You both got what you wanted. Didn’t check the rain gauge this morning, but it rained much of the night down here.

We don't see impacts from east wind here very frequently, but today it must be flowing out of the Skagit Valley. The wind isn't that strong, but it kept temps up in the mid 30s overnight.

This was the best snow event of the winter here. And I'd guess we will have 1 more before spring hits.

Speaking of wind…Did you get a generator yet? Sounds like your power will be going out again!

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

Nope.   Been way too busy.

Our power almost never goes out during east wind events.    The January outage was unavoidable with a significant ice storm.    The outage earlier this week was entirely related to equipment failure at the NB substation.    We will see what happens today.    The ECMWF shows the wind focused a little south so hopefully this will be an Enumclaw event.   Its usually Enumclaw or North Bend but rarely both.

Or just the presence of the wind. Bottomed out at 25.9˚F IMBY this morning, mostly because it calmed down and decoupled overnight. The clear skies and low dew point did the rest. There was a touch of frost, but not much. Just too dry.

BLI, stuck in the outflow all night, never dropped below 34˚F, based on the 5-minute readings.

Cabin is kicking asss with this air, after only a high of 23 yesterday they reached just 3.8 degrees last night

Running a 26.2 degree average on the month. Last month was 19 degree average.

Need to correct this, they hit a amazing -3.8 last night!

26? well that's just great!! FUCKKK!!

I was hoping that the ground wouldn't have a hard freeze, kind of a set back for some of my ambitious gardening plans by a couple weeks. Thankfully this looks like the last of the hard freezes for the season.

I'm curious why you have been using Fahrenheit given with the problematic undertones.

This next cold wave at the end of the month is looking more likely than not, so I'm betting there will be another freeze in that period. Probably some snow as well. Should be good to go after that.

Parents in the Claw say it's already really gusty.

I work remotely for a company in SoCal, and HR sent out a safety bulletin that I think is very important to those of us in the PNW, and I think we all could learn valuable information from this safety bulletin.

Everybody be safe out there!

Does the rain enhance the effects of chemicals that are known to the state of California to cause cancer?

Just wish I could read that. What does it mean for next winter in that front?  Almost seems like it goes from positive to negative every other year?

The colors represent zonal winds in the tropical stratosphere (yellows = westerly, blues = easterly). Vertical axis is altitude, horizontal axis is time.

The W’s stand for mature westerly (+QBO) and E’s stand for mature easterly (-QBO).
