Looks like a couple hr break before the next big Groupe of showers come in off coast. A few inches tonight look good

Looks like our best chance for snow is late Friday night into Saturday.

26 degrees here currently, daytime high of 31 and midnight high 44. About 3" of depth now, which fell as about 4". 60" season total now, two thirds of the way to average. My average is probably a little higher than our actual 100 year average but i have no way to find out what it officially is so i just go off of what it's been when we've lived here.

 

32 degrees at my sons house at about 600 elevation, in salem. He just got a heavy snow shower move through that dropped a light coat of snow. Hoping for yall in the willamette valley to score tonight

Ever since that warm up we had the frogs have been going all night even through the cold spell.  Tonight they are going full strength with 1 inch of snow on ground.  This is a first for sure. Sounds funny hearing frogs croak with fresh snow

34.5, overcast. Colder upper level air is yet to come tonight. Temp is slowly but surely falling here as well as in most other places even without precip, and by the time the next barrage of showers arrives there should be more flakes than raindrops compared to what we were having a couple hours ago. The night is young... I hope, and if anything, we are just getting started with this cold potential

Haven’t measured yet, but this line has been pretty heavy at times. We’ve definitely passed the 6” mark on the day. Very close to passing 2012-13 on the snowfall list. Pretty wild 4 of my five least snowy winters here came the first 5 years I lived here. Saw the potential though during the monumental 2011-12 season.

Yea it’s been a weird year. I already have daffodils dying after blooming 1-2 weeks ago. I got a gut feeling March or April will be super warm

Wanted to post because it's Feb 29th! Currently 36F.

Does anyone have any fun leap day weather stories, weather history on this date, leap day memories or know someone who has/had a bday today? What do they do in off years?

Going to be a good set up tonight here, temp is staying at 32 even with no precip and the next band of showers will probably drop another 1 inch or more. Hrrr has this going clear into tomorrow morning.

We had 12.3” of snow on leap day 2012. That was pretty cool. I think I was sick that day though.

Back in the 80s I had a coworker/friend at Lake Louise Ski resort in Banff who's birthday fell on Feb 29th 1968, he'd celebrate his birthday Feb 28th in off years (although most people do it March 1st, which is technically their legal birthday in off years) and every Feb 29th he'd REALLY celebrate his birthday, I was there for it in 1988, that party was a blast, although the burgers gave me food poisoning the next day which really sucked.

Not really.  The thing that makes me hesitant to call early March spring is the fact we've had some big snow and cold events through March 10 or so.

Incredibly heavy snow. Looks like maybe 20-30 more minutes of snow and then maybe a break until around or after midnight. 2-3" an hour rates right now, easily.

I was never that excited about tonight.  I'm actually pretty surprised how well some places are doing.  Early next week is a way different ballgame.  Somebody is probably going to get hit good.
