April 2024 Weather in the PNW

Recommended Posts

1 hour ago, Sunriver Snow Zone said:

Looking at the models, seems like winter is probably over for sunriver. We could maybe see some brief wet snow at some point in May, but it looks unlikely at this point. Estimated 91" of snow this season (can't always 100% accurately measure it because we aren't always here and our snow compacts pretty quickly), and I estimate our average is about 90 inches, give or take a dozen because I don't really know. I'd say we had a pretty good season for a strong el nino!

We were done with snow in March this year, but ended up around average here too. Not bad, way better than I had expected.

I’ve never been a Blazer fan. Don’t really have a team, more follow specific players. My 3 favorite players are Giannis, Jokic, and Luka. Honorable mention Jayson Tatum, Banchero, and Ant. And who doesn’t love seeing Lebron fake an injury late in a loss or hearing Kawaii will miss yet another game!

I haven't watched the Blazers since like 2006, then they signed that Comcast deal and now ROOT Sports which my TV providers don't pay for.

But college basketball is way more fun to me anyway.

I'm similar actually.  follow the warriors cause on the east coast I followed Steph Curry when he played college ball at Davidson in the Carolinas.  later moved to CA and he was drafted by the warriors and have been a fan of them since

Drove out to Ocean Shores to see family today. Amazing summer like drive and being out on the Jetty when the front rolled in was a memorable experience. We really need to do a coastal meetup when we get the next decadal storm.

Sound like a great idea, count me in. We’re due for another Columbus Day Storm. Maybe we can all meet there and do some storm chasing! 💨 🚐

Eh. Today will go on the books as another very warm day. Tomorrow barely gets us to average then it’s back to more ridging. Followed by another “troughy” period that’s getting more toned down by the day.

Today was fun, but it would be more exciting if it were a longer lasting crash to significantly colder or wet weather. Just my opinion.

Dude, the mean trough position is in the West/PNW for the entirety of the 00z EPS run. And it has been for the last 7 weeks, too.

The ridgy periods have been relatively transient up there compared to other parts of the country. It can’t be troughy 24/7.

12Z ECMWF looks very troughy and wet.  April is running a little colder than normal at SEA through yesterday and likely will end up colder than normal.

Yes... dry but not warm.

And if the ECMWF is right it might not even end up that dry.

Atleast the next 16 days doesn't look very warm, probably will be cooler than average which will help with the snowpack. Should also get pretty cold tonight in the lowlands.

Guess I’ll do my write up on yesterday’s much maligned fropa. Ended up with a 70/48 day here yesterday when all was said and done. Mild night the night before last with all the east winds, had an overnight low of just 54. Sunny with gusty east winds the first part of the day with temps quickly rising to 70 by 1-2pm.

Clouds were moving in in earnest by 3 or so with a sharp switch to gusty SSW winds. Had some spots of light rain and drizzle with the front but didn’t amount to much. Was in the lower 50s by sunset, cleared out in the evening with a midnight low of 48.

Last night was clearer than I expected though. Scored a low of 39. Today has been lovely with puffy clouds, cool breezes and sunbreaks. High of 59 so far. Will probably hit 60-61. Tonight could be on the chilly side again at least.

Mid-week and beyond is starting to look ok for some appreciable rainfall 🤞
