Just a slight warming trend for opening day of boating season next Saturday on the GFS. 😅

00z last night had us in the mid 40's and 12z this morning has us in the mid 80's.

Looks like another win for the bourgeois.

Looks like some models want to immediately return us to a regime dominated by ridging, much like we saw in the mid-March to mid-April timeframe. Would be par for the course. Was hoping this cool and wet pattern would have a little more lasting power, but that’s asking a lot these days.

My hope going into this period was to get at least an inch at my location. I'm only at 0.73" for April as of today and it looks like I'm going to be shadowed all weekend. But the EPS has continued to look progressive through the week with a couple opportunities for another 0.25-0.5" event so I'm holding out hope. At least my 300 gallon rain tank is back to full so I won't have to use any tap water on plants for at least a month.

Some GFS goofiness on the 12Z run.

At least the trend is favorable and moving away from solid troughing for the next 2 weeks straight.

Hotter in SEA than PDX, that doesn’t happen often. Looks like some clouds move in from the SW during the day on Saturday capping the heat down here.

12Z ECMWF is much more realistic that day... but of course its still over a week away and it will probably be pouring rain in reality.

53F with some light rain. 0.16" on the day so far.

2.53" on the month so far and Apr has a +1.2F departure to this point.

We have not had a below normal month sine March of 2023. Longest stretch of above normal months I can find on ACIS is 15 months from 2014-2016 with every month in 2015 being above normal.

We would have a solid head start on an all-time record warm May if the 12z GFS verified. Been awhile since our last one, almost a whole year!

Not sure how many on here live at PDX, but I do know that last May was not record warm such places as downtown Portland, Vancouver, and Battle Ground.

Yes Jared.    But at least its not some monster trough parked over the PNW for weeks.     My expectations were set back to very low based on some of the posts here about May.    Any nice days are even more of a blessing now than usual.   👍

Only people who want troughing all the time and have severe climate anxiety.    I am just someone looking for those spectacular PNW spring days.    I think May has a decent to be ghastly in true post-Nino fashion as Justin has pointed out.

With today's underperformance, KSEA exactly doubles its April 2024 rainfall total, adding another 0.43" to the bucket and filling it gently to an even 0.86"... Pending some stray stratoform rainbands over the next day.

Tomorrow will clear earlier than modeled over the Sound with a mostly-dissipated occlusion front overhead and weakly negative low level lapse rates. Any residual stratus should be digested mighty well by that steamin' late April sun, mixing skies into hazy sunshine before noon. I'm going for a gutsy 64/47 day at KSEA. Might even get a bit muggy, some CAM's have dewpoints pushing fifty in the favored sheltered areas, despite what I claim to be too much modeled cloudcover.

Bit of a bust on this one. Still mostly cloudy here with lots and lots of stratocumulus, and altostratus plugging the holes in the low level cloud deck. Very little visible blue sky. I thought low level moisture would scour more easily.

KSEA plummeting back down into the mid 50s now with a shower nailing the airport.
