Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

I'm afraid you're probably right. Would be terrible for opening day of boating season. I'll be out either way, but . . . Gross.

Even if it was just one nice day in a sea of rainy/cold days that would make literally no difference to the environment or stats and would even be good for the trees... Jesse is still rooting hard against it just to spite anyone who wants a decent weekend day.  😀

This is why it's soooo fun when the tables turn.  And the tables will turn.  He is like the scrooge times 10.   Bah humbug.

Seeing this while it’s 92°F here makes me want to 🥃 like there’s no tomorrow. 😭

Now that all the snow is melted and it's just a gross day outside, I'd do anything to get a 92 degree day! I miss boating and swimming season

It's pretty much a lock that July/August will be hot dry here. To what degree is the question?

That being said. 2020 was a pretty tolerable summer. It just didn't end well...

Yeah... could have done without that wicked Labor Day trough.    Stuff like that shouldn't happen until the first significant rain of fall.

It's amazing how many of those fires were human caused. The two that impact our area, Beachie Creek and Lionshead were lightning caused in mid-August though.

Guy at pool today was in same situation as me with his knee.   Probably 45-50 and completely blew out his knee playing baseball.   Turned to go chase a ground ball and collapsed.  No jumping involved.   He lives in DC and just got here.

But for 24 hours of a truly wicked east wind it wouldn't have never been so catastrophic.

Time to hang em' up. This story is somewhat confusing though. Was he hanging out at the pool telling you this or did he decide to play baseball on the lawn and blow his knee out in front of you? What is the relevance of where he lives or when he arrived and Big Cock Head, SC?

Well... I mentioned DC only because we have a good friend on here from DC.  And our DC friend on here was shocked jumping from 4 feet did so much damage.    Turns out you don't have to jump at all.   And when two guys are wearing the same knee brace and on crutches in the same pool area you can be sure they will immediately swap stories and commiserate.   And yes... time to hang 'em up.   😀

Of course just like any season in any given year, this Summer will play out entirely uniquely, similar to some years but entirely of its own quality. Hopefully the PNW is a donut hole of cool anomalies and a fixed respite from a nearly hemisphere-wide torch. It's the best we can hope for, barring some horrific volcanic eruption.

A major volcanic eruption usually takes a year to impact the global climate.

PSCZ starting to fill in from the west. These can be hit or miss especially on a day like today, but here's to hoping for a solid thumping of convective rainfall, maybe even some hail or lightning.

Also I'm relieved to hear reports of mixed rain and snow last night. I was definitely seeing and feeling chunky rain out on my front porch but I kept doubting myself because it's almost fuggin' May. Thought I was going nuts. Pretty cool stuff for our area! And I do feel the need to go on the record to say I called it a few days ago... ;)

Not exactly thrilled about getting more 48 degree drizzle in late April and May… and I’m not exactly thrilled about getting more 80s and endless sunshine in October either.

Come to think of it, if I lived in CA, probably my least favorite thing about the climate would be how long summer can drag on down there. Pretty much October 2022, but it’s every year.

I agree but at least the Cascade 🏔️  are getting ❄️. What I do like about this type of weather is the beautiful 🌈 it can produce.

I played independent league ball for years. I remember one guy from the other team was sliding hard into third and his leg just snapped. I didn’t see it happen, but I heard that terrible noise all the way from the dugout, and immediately knew.

Fluky, 1-in-1000-odds injuries like that do happen. I assume yours would fall into that category as well. Never said it was impossible, it’s just atypical for a healthy leg or knee to fail like that.

FWIW I’ve had some brutal falls myself, some accidental, others borne out of recklessness. It’s a miracle I haven’t broken a bone or torn an important tendon at this point. 😂

I played baseball through college. When I was done I never picked up a ball again except one time ten years ago my friends team needed someone to throw a few innings. Lucky I didn’t die. Three scoreless innings, arm was sore for a month. Only time in the last 16 years, when it’s over it’s over.

Guy at pool today was in same situation as me with his knee.   Probably 45-50 and completely blew out his knee playing baseball.   Turned to go chase a ground ball and collapsed.  No jumping involved.   He lives in DC and just got here.

I play in a coed over 30 soccer league, and I was chuckling to myself tonight at all of the knee braces out on the pitch (myself included.).  I think it was easier to track who *didn't" have a knee brace (there were a few ankle braces).  With 2" rain falling in the past week, the fields were pretty soft and mucky tonight, and I am feeling it in my knees and my hips.
