NWbyNW
NorCal getting wet. This region saw many mudslides and trees down in the past storms. Already saturated. We'll see how it goes. Strong waves along the coast as well. Currently sparing the Bay Area.

I got to thank someone in the PNW thread for sharing it with me. LINK To see the precipitation totals, at the top right click the 'Observations' Tab. At the 'Display:' line it should read 'Station Plot.' Change this to 'Precipitation.' Then the overlay changes and you can change the duration (the amount of hours of the observation) as well as other features to the map. It's quite useful. roadtonowhere08
Yup, I come here all the time. I just don't have much to add beyond what Marine Layer and others say. It must be deflating at times for him when there's dull weather, but I do appreciate it.

AquariusRadar
Here is an article about Sacramento valley flooding-Flooding history https://www.yahoo.com/news/6-worst-floods-sacramento-history-133000022.html If the population of the Sacramento valley has increased X10 times the 1955 population, when 60 people died in the flooding, and today's 2023 flooding has taken 2 dozen lives-not 600- means (1) flood control efforts are working, and/or climate change is making for less rain-less flooding than in the recent 1955 past? Another indication that climate change might mean a dryer climate rather than a wetter climate is the history of record rains- this one for San Francisco. Since Oct. 1 While our generation looks upon 2022-2023 as an epic wet water year, It appears from this example that the past was wetter- at least for this major part of the water year.

NWbyNW
The amount of rainfall in just the past 12 hours is a lot! Here the storm is now deep inland with some patches of heavy rain. Flood risk is high.

NWbyNW
Wanted to show two things. The first map shows the 72hr precipitation totals. Some great totals there. The second map shows the density of the snow pack. As you can see, there is some intense snow now in California. Let's hope it stays in the mountains and can supply the state with abundance in the summer months.
NWbyNW
Earlier when talking about reservoirs dumping their loads... water, I found a page that allows us to see all their "Scheduled" dumpings. https://cdec.water.ca.gov/queryRes.html So I am no expert on dams and whatnot, but it seems like they do this all the time, even when there is extreme drought.... Maybe they shouldn't do it when there is drought? Maybe they should be keeping water? I don't know. Ignore me. Was looking for the latest summary report on the storage totals, but can you believe it? They don't update at 12:55am! How dare they! lol I should go to bed...
