Rain just stopped. .14” so far. Had some distant thunder during the onset earlier. My kid is currently surrounded by slugs.

That was easily the most prolific west side storm I’ve experienced since August 1999.

All roads lead to Walgreens.

Looks like the Portland storms have their eye on King and Pierce counties later tonight... no doubt in a weakened state.

Surprisingly... the HRRR from 36 hours ago had a pretty good handle on the general placement of the storms at 5 p.m. today.

rad.png

Score on for the HRRR. :)

Not really that close at all overall, timing was severely off, horrible.

No... it provided a pretty good guide in general.     I knew it was probably going to be a stormy afternoon here.

0.73" on the day!  3rd wettest June day on record.

My monthly total through yesterday was 0.68".

Here's a link to a video of a close strike, best viewed HD.

Just drove home on I-84... lots of thunder and lightning; torrential rain; and there's a big part of a tree down on the freeway between 181st and Fairview Parkway. Lots of big limbs down all along my street here in Gresham.

I just got home and you weren't kidding. Lots of trees down and debris everywhere. Numerous streets flooded. Took forever to get home.

Bellingham was getting set up to get hit with a pretty decent storm, several lightning strikes just east of Hwy9 around Acme, dark skies to the east, then poof, it disappeared.  We got just enough "rain" to wet the pavement.

My son was down at Lake Whatcom hanging out and I sent him a text warning him to keep an eye on the sky and "you should probably be hearing thunder soon."  OOPS!  Blew that call!

If I wasn't so genuinely impressed with how quickly that storm fell apart it would have been a very disappointing evening.

No, all models showed it being stormy there to some extent, HRRR should not get any credit.

PDX actually recorded just 0.10”.

2018 in Portland had 27.30" rainfall, which is the 8th driest year on record and 8.73" below normal

Current rainfall for PDX in 2019 is 13.08”, which is 5.21” below normal as of June 12

It's a nail-biter of a night on the island, most models show the best stuff going north but the most recent HRRR runs have come around to a south island event. Not sure whether there will be any lightning but some rain would be nice.

The coming weekend is still looking really nice per the 00Z ECMWF.

And it shows a decent day for the 4th... some marine layer in the morning and then mostly sunny by afternoon.    It has a high of 75 in Seattle and 77 in Portland.

And Friday looks quite a bit warmer... mostly in the 80s.

00Z ECMWF also has more action around Portland tomorrow afternoon... but not much up here.   Looks like a partly sunny afternoon for Seattle.
