If my winter is going to suck again, I'm taking Kansas' winter with me.

In all seriousness, I have to laugh. I don't know what else to do.

I don't like to complain often, but after waiting 2 whole months to get a decent snowfall/cover, then to watch it get washed away after just 3 short days is a major crotch-kick! None of my decent snow cover has lasted anywhere close to a week. I can accept that when it's November, but the 3rd week of January?? In Michigan?? Gettin the ol Ohio treatment so far this winter and it's a horrid twist. Absolute opposite of all the notoriously snowy winters of yore. What a joke! Most of the countryside is back to ugly brown with splotchy white spots. After such a beautiful winter's day just Sunday, it was the exact opposite and a real downer driving home after work. This great winter's been mostly brown around here it's sad to say. Somebody has the nerve to mention 13-14 lol. I had 200% more snow at this point. This year and that shouldn't even be mentioned in the same conversation!

You have had it bad for sure I will not take that from you......but this is what I laugh at. Look at the tongue of no snowfall along the Platte river going all the way into iowa. There is snow depth all around me and I’m in the middle enjoying brown grass while Lincoln and Omaha and points every where else have 5+ inches of snow. Weirdest thing I have ever seen

That is terrible. As o have said, many of us in Nebraska have had a good snowfall winter, but several places keep getting missed and unfortunately that includes your area. It stinks, I’ve had those winters in my area where storms miss in all directions.

I can’t complain too bad because I got nailed last year while almost everyone else had some really bad luck. It’s just really unusual how this has set up where you have that small area splitting the state with no snow.

06Z GFS says let it snow where it snows and NO SNOW where it doesnt snow.And it doesn't snow anymore in C.IA. At least to make 1" in a 24hr period. This pattern sucks. I personally think DSM has a serious shot of going under 15" of snow for the winter season and a good shot at breaking the all time record for least snowiest (between 8-9")

 

Any takers??? I give 10 to 1 on the least snowiest winter on record at this range for DSM--- which really should be 137:1. ( or so) 2.7" through the end of DEC should be enticing. I take bets via paypal - Who wants to make a proposition? Talk is cheap. Actions matter and results are worth bragging. I like Tom and all, but if he was a betting man with his positiviness - he would be bankrupt . No issues agst TOM- he brings light to my day, but nothing in C.IA (not mby, but a large region) is going on. It's the worst winter since -- 2-3 years ago. Winters here have consistently sucked to the point that even OMA and LNK have more snow in the past 3 years than DSM to this date. (no issues to my friends out W-- just that typically DSM sees more moisture than you) I'am willing to wager that DSM will not see over 15" the entire winter which I believe is at least top 10 crap. One - two or even 5 times - I get it, randomness. But this is talking 20 or so storms (events) since last Winter where DSM has gotten not only the shaft, but the ladder to the abyss. One would think averages would work out, but averages in DSM over the past 4-5 years for snowfall are near lowest ever observed for any 4-5 period since 1878/.

 

d**n AGM GLobal Warming. I might just buy some "carbon credits" --- to "offset" this anomaly. Bigger "HA!" . But some take it serious, so I regress. Even myself after a weather rant and being passionate and all understand that the weather is uncontrollable and that life posses bigger issues (which I have) . It's like randomness in a bottle--- just wish this "randomness" would come around here some time this winter-- I will even take next winter. Enough. Sorry for the rant. And I wish the snow lovers the best. Get it when you can, cause the lean times are coming.

That is truly pathetic.  This decade overall has been very awful, but THIS is the biggest kick in the balls of all.  I can't watch Lincoln and Omaha get accumulating snow again..

 

It has literally been EVERY direction.  You and I are just not getting any love.  Brown ground since the first week of December..unbelievable.

Might as well be warm with no snow.

I'll take it. 2.5 days below avg with the "cold snap". Nothing compared to what you folks up north are going to go through.

Looked at some 511 Nebraska web cameras, there is basically little if any snow west of Lincoln in most of the state of Nebraska.  I still have some piles and snow on the shaded side of houses and buildings, but the rest has disappeared.  I have had it better than many others in the western 3/4 of the state, but others have had little to nothing most of this winter.

There are patches of bare grass here, the rest of it is dirty crust. This past weekend with 3 straight days at 40 while everyone to our East was at or below 0 was a buzzkill.

Many parts have been brown since late Nov.  Cold and windy with brown ground is just gross.  We really need this pattern to shift.  Northwest flow with clippers is rarely conducive to much moisture around here.

Also, as far as I know, this new system is anonymous, which I don't like. The old system was better for this specific board. There are some boards where an up/down karma system works well and I don't see this being one of them.

If you really like something but don’t have anything to add, upvote it. If you like it and want to add something, upvote and comment.

 

If you dislike what they said but don’t want to get into a large discussion, downvote. If you dislike what they said and feel the need to comment, then do that.

 

The biggest issue, IMO, isn’t the new system. It’s that it doesn’t work on mobile, which I usually use. But at the same time, my expected experience on here is not any worse because of that. It is what it is.

 

The change is silly, but let’s not go overboard with how much it changes things. And I’m now going to award you all a downvote. Just kidding.... you’re lucky the function isn’t available on mobile.

My issue is that it's anonymous. I liked how before you can see who liked something. It was a way for me to react to a post when I had no real way of replying to it. Now, that's taken out of the picture.

I also agree with everything said above. The old system was far superior. Although I think the ability to downvote should stay. Though if we have to lose it to go back to the old system, I'd be okay with that. Usually because if I dont like something I'll usually just reply.
