The radar is actually starting to look better. It’s looking good for another round here and will probably clip you.

Yeah it’s looking like we might get hit by the middle part of it now. It’s expanded to the east side of it quite a bit. Really glad I went to bed at like 8pm last night and woke up just in time for the surprise! This mornings snows might end up being better than tonight here.

I am a bit SE, I guess, of Yelm proper. It IS starting to snow though, just a little bit. That cell is getting bigger.

A small band of snow just popped up here and it’s snowing pretty decently again. Some people on the forum might be surprised when they wake up with a new coat of snow.

I am looking at traffic cams down there and its hard to tell what is going on because there is already snow on the ground.  

Even Puyallup looks very white!

Wow -9 in Moses Lake. Far colder than modeled. Modified arctic air now starting to push out of the Columbia Basin west into the eastern Gorge as The Dalles has cooled to 30 with 21 dewpoint and an east wind.

I had to look up where Moses Lake was. Only 1k elevation in the middle of Washington. Very impressive cold air!

Light snow here with a very thin dusting, including on the roads. Radar looks interesting if this stuff to our south and west can hold together.

Snowing here! Saw the potential on the NAM and RGEM, didn't think the coverage would be this underdone. Some of these incoming bands are fairly heavy, maybe we'll pick up as much as an inch or so. 28F. Just a trace so far.

Part of the magic of living downstream from an under-sampled ocean region is we never quite know what's coming next! Best snow of the event here in Seattle right now.

Big flakes flying here right now. On radar they’re falling apart a bit moving NE…but here atleast still producing some measurable snowfall.

Wasn’t a very cold night here as there were plenty of clouds. Sitting at exactly 32 degrees right now. 
 

I do notice some light radar returns on the NW Oregon coast now, but most models don’t really push that inland to us unfortunately.

Looking ahead in the models I see a lot of cool weather on the way. No real signs of arctic air or a major cold snap, but just consistently below average weather. First half of the month could end up a lot like November in that we are running significantly below average without a major cold wave.

That one should be here in a few minutes looks like it’s going to hit us directly. 0.2” so far this morning from the previous bands.

I was thinking last night that warm fronts are notorious for over-performing in terms of precip and coverage... appears to be the case again this morning.

Ephrata(north of Moses Lake) the past 10 minutes the wind switched to northeast and temp dropped from 10 to 1 degrees under overcast skies. This arctic air mass has some teeth to it.

The latest HRRR actually does bring some moisture to the Portland metro area later this afternoon/evening.

The models have no clue how much the low level cold is going to rapidly intensify in the Gorge and PDX metro as the east wind ramps up.

And Grant County airport is reporting -8! Lots of variation around the Columbia basin though.

Looking at models that came out overnight and currently running, seems like a distinct shift west in the precip for tonight in the Seattle area. Most have us at <.1" QPF.

925mb temp loop from 06Z ECMWF.  A couple interesting things... you can clearly see the cold air damming around the Hood Canal later today and the basin of Central WA just traps cold air and never let's go!
