Still -1 at Stampede Pass and 11 in Lester.  What a beast this airmass was.

We had a small bout of ZR and sleet, but nothing to bring on a glaze.

I've probably got to be one of one person on this forum who wants to see a decent icing.

I don't mind anything up to about 0.3" of glaze.

I'm also thankful the ice was light enough to not make a huge mess.  If we had to come out of it with ice this was ok.

As an interesting aside this entire sequence had some unmistakable similarities to the December 1968 blast.  On that one things were just pressed a bit more southward.  Seattle came out of it with all snow, but here it started as snow and went to a fairly considerable amount of ZR.

Yeah there was ZR here too it looks like. Bethany had 0.25" of ice and 13.6" of snow with that blizzard. (And a 12/7 day).

I think freezing rain is pretty cool. Below a certain threshold.

A bunch of plant pots outside are busting or cracking. Wonder if the extreme rain followed by flash freeze so quickly was just too much pressure

Probably very wet soil and it expended from the hard freeze.

Its actually pretty with a small amount but I definitely didn't want to see anything crippling to the region.

Wow!

Not clear if the car slid on it's own or it someone was trying to drive it.  The guy will need to change his underwear after that if there was a driver!

21°. First time hitting 20+ since sometime on Monday.

Just a beast of a freeze up that way.  One of the coldest Decembers ever for Whatcom County.

Meanwhile places like Hoquiam are only running a couple of degrees below normal for the month.  Extraordinary gradient this month.

I'm about 4 miles north of Redland, zero snow.  Had a little sleet then a very light coating of ZR overnight.  Crusty out but not much overall.  Thankful we didn't get a lot of ZR.  Had everything ready for power outages but so far so good.  '21 we were 13 days without power.  No fun even with a generator.

What's your elevation?  I'm at 315.  We get warm nosed a lot here.  Surprised you had snow.  Not  single flake here.  I have a friend who lives off Lower Highland Rd, upper Beavercreek at 1,200ft and no snow.  Crazy microclimates.  25f and drizzle right now.

Oregon City, 225 ft, no snow but solid white layer of "frozen precipitation", 26 degrees, up two degrees in last two hours.

No thanks.  I have seen PLENTY of wind already this season.  I'm ready for a short breather.

This. I'm okay with the weather taking a break until after the New Year. Unless it's snow. I'm okay with snow. No firehoses, no wind. Unfortunately, I don't think that escaping moderate-to-heavy rain is in the cards for my location.

Just saw a guy going down the road in front of our house with his pickup at a 45% angle.  Either excellent control to sustain that or just really lucky!

Living on a hill always makes for some entertainment during snow and ice. People will try over and over to get up the hill, only to get stuck in the same place every time. Slide back down, try again, repeat.

Same. I don't want any power outages, but I don't mind a little more ice than this--enough to stick around throughout the day, forcing everyone to stay home. I like the feeling of being snowed in, it slows everyone down, which can be a blessing this time of year.

By noon today everyone will be scrambling around to hit malls and restaurants and just as stressed out as ever.  A little sad.

all the more indication why it's actually important to have speed going up hills.

kills me every time when people try to go slow.

🙄 people here drive when the weather is inclement. You need to get that valley mentality out of your head before they label you something here lol. I’ll be going to work here shortly.

I lived in your neck of the woods for 4 years and "in the valley for much longer", naïve to compare driving in inclement weather on one side of the mountain to the other. I could drive in the snow drifts of central oregon with one eye closed with a severe hangover and never have a close call. In the valley its different, first its not flatter then a pancake, there are hills you have to contend with, second the moisture from the south or ocean mixing with the gorge artic blasts create a slippery mess that you don't see in the high desert. Third, alot more drivers, as they say its the "other ones" you gotta worry about...two different driving worlds, no comparison.

Stepped outside into it and it's a completely alien experience... Just a ripping, dry cold with tiny pellets that hit your face like bullets. Never been in snow while that cold out.

I'm really surprised some people are already wanting to see a windstorm after everything we are currently seeing.  I used to really like wind, but now I see that it just makes a mess and potentially worse than that.

I've already had to deal with two or three pickup truck loads of branches from the winds this season so I'm good!

I agree with you as I have seen the wind at its worst. And yet I am a sailor who "loves wind" Maybe until one has had the experience of the veracity of an intense windstorm they can't relate.
