pscz1140
I do tend to agree with this. It's really easy to get mislead by the IR/WV loop. Sometimes a storm looks really juicy and we don't hardly get any precipitation at all, and other times it doesn't look like much as we get dumped on. I don't think anyone is expecting anything too impressive though. We are just hoping to squeeze out an inch. I agree about the "cloud look" in general, but I like the overall structure/location of the storm and recent developments, not just the look of the clouds. The radar/obs up north seem encouraging too. Who knows what will happen, but I think at lot of people in the Central Sound will see at least an inch. I'm willing to bet Dewey's leftover gift card on it

snow_wizard
Just below freezing at 3pm in late Feb. Not too shabby. I still have some light snow falling and a dusting on the ground. I'm not real sure how the evening part of this thing will work out. It appears what I have gotten so far is separate form the main event. 1 Quote Death To Warm Anomalies! ShawniganLake
Flurries of the unimpressive variety. A solid dusting where I am at right now. (Mill bay). Glad to hear it’s snowing in Victoria. They deserve a little. People always have different perspectives about snow. Just left the dentist, and they told me it was snowing really hard outside. I walk outside and think “where’s the snow”.

snow_wizard
That chunk of precip over near Victoria and the San Juans has just kind of parked it there and hasn't shown much signs of moving south yet. Victoria might get some OK accumulations from this. The flow is supposed to become increasingly northerly so that might make it move. Quote Death To Warm Anomalies! Deweydog
Is it possible the nam is doing better right now because there is more data available on the west coast of bc?I dunno. What I do know is we wring these models out to the max with this stuff. They never get scrutinized to anywhere near this degree during any other types of weather but what will remain an immutable truth here on the westside is that short of having a major overrunning event, there will always be details to sweat. Mark Nelsen pointed that out this week. If he forecasts 0.05" of rain and we get 0.25" no one notices. If he forecasts 1/2" of snow and we get 2 1/2" it is a major bust. And visa versa.
