February Weather in the Pacific Northwest

All snow here now with a temp of 33.

The layer of hail is helping the snow to accumulate easier.

I have a feeling you and others in the CZ are going to be quite happy by the end of the day! Post pictures if you can!

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

You might do really good tonight. That sat loop looks impressive. I will be in the fuckking shadow all day.

Just depends on how much moisture keeps streaming and track, these post frontal situations have not worked out much this year with showers staying either to the north or south of me as they move through.

Easily the heaviest snow I've seen since Christmas. Beautiful.

Nice. Post a picture.

Had a really good burst of snow at about 12. Now the precip isnt heavy enough to turn the rain over.

The C-Zone is breaking down, but the models insist on one between 1 and 4 this afternoon.  It might rekindle a bit later.  At any rate there are ton of cold showers off the coast and some people are going to score.

Wow!  The down sloping east of the Cascades has destroyed the cold air over there.  Getting to be that time of year now I guess.

Looks like the trajectory may become more WSW and allow showers to make it to south King County.  Still wondering what is going on with that C-Zone.  All models say it should be alive for hours yet.

That was one hell of a post Christmas madness! We had to race over to the family lake house to shovel the then flat roof before it collapsed. We put a regular roof on it during the spring of 1997 due to that worry. 20” of snow fell that Saturday night before heavy rain fell on it Sunday morning. Had 8” on the ground before the 20” fell...it was crazy!

Yeah we may not see another episode in our lifetimes again. But never say never.. Just unlikely

Mason County is filling now.  Showers are hooking around the south end of the Olympics.  Should be fun to see how this all comes together.

I sure hate the Olympics in these cases.  Still some chances coming up for King County though.  A bit of a wildcard is when the flow becomes more northerly later this evening.  We'll have to see if any showers might still be in play at that time.

Imagine how awesome our climate would be with no cascades or rockies to the east and no Olympics to our west.

For the past week I have been particularly frustrated with the Olympic mountains. They are certainly not worth any CZ zone. They have done an epic screw job on us this winter.

We should all get together and take action.

Guest Sounder

Pretty interesting temperature map for the central Sound this afternoon. Huge spread between the Kitsap Peninsula and parts of the Eastside. 50 degrees on the water in Bremerton and 34 in Sammamish. Great example of why any good weenie should avoid waterfront property around here.

You can also see exactly where the CZ is without even looking at the radar with that strip of low temperatures from Port Ludlow to South Everett. If that CZ sticks around for a few more hours someone could score big a little later. Looking at traffic cams it doesn't look like it's fully switched to snow in the CZ yet though.

I could be wrong but it appears that the 18z is a notch or two cooler for the weekend...

Friday looks slightly more snowy for parts of the sound as well.

Wow that CZ is intense. Hope it can drop south over all King County.

Just looking to the north from here it is quite dark. Looks to be moving ESE right now.
