Phil
Not normal for this area in April? Not that I’m aware of. Andrew or Demitri would probably have more concrete answers there. This pattern certainly isn’t normal, either. The EPS control run for 4/6-4/11 is just comical looking across the WHEM. 2 Quote Live Weather Cam: https://www.youtube.com/live/KxlIo8-KVpc?si=xKLCFYWbZieAfyh6 PWS Wunderground https://www.wunderground.com/dashboard/pws/KMDBETHE62 PWS CWOP/NOAA: https://www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=F3819&hours=

jcmcgaffey
I would agree. Notice how the drier area is farther east in Skagit County and extreme northwestern Snohomish County on the annual rainfall map but a little to the south its right up against the water. That is a reflection of the typical placement of the c-zone. There are some more detailed precip maps that you can fine online that are really interesting to look at and really show the features even within the seattle area. One of the driest locations east of the Puget Sound is actually northwest seattle. That area gets more than a third less rain than Issaquah which lies in that finger of higher annual precipitation that stretches along i90 corridor from the mountains nearly to lake Washington. You would think with all the weather stations now wunderground could create some very detailed maps.

Phil
I’ve never heard crickets here until mid-late summer. Maybe frogs? That’d be my guess, especially given the chilly February you guys just had. IIRC, it takes most species of cricket at least two months to mature and develop the ability to chirp, but I could be wrong about that. The only time I’ve ever heard crickets chirping in March was in Florida. They don’t start up here until July, and don’t reach full maturity until September. 1 Quote Live Weather Cam: https://www.youtube.com/live/KxlIo8-KVpc?si=xKLCFYWbZieAfyh6 PWS Wunderground https://www.wunderground.com/dashboard/pws/KMDBETHE62 PWS CWOP/NOAA: https://www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=F3819&hours=

SilverFallsAndrew
Impressively cold air mass coming Sunday night/Monday. I was just noticing that. North of Seattle will see sub 522 thickness. Pretty unusual for early April. Even down here it gets pretty chilly. Chillier morning than expected down here, low of 33. SilverFallsAndrew
Eugene will probably end up with something close to a -3.5 departure for March. Unless I get a surprise freeze tonight I will end March with 23, which ties the number I had in 2012. Eugene made it into the mid-30s this morning. They even pulled off a -1 departure yesterday somehow.
